Pixar has added another writer into the fold, at least temporarily, by welcoming Marti Noxon (Buffy). Senior development executive Mary Coleman announced the addition of Noxon to an unspecified project during the Austin Film Festival. Pixar is known for keeping their creative community close-knit, so any new blood comes as a welcome surprise. Especially considering Noxon’s prior experience, having also written for television shows such as Mad Men and Glee, plus feature treatment work for I Am Number Four and Fright Night. Noxon’s producer creds are even more extensive. Hit the jump for more, including what Noxon might be working on.
The Playlist reported on Pixar’s addition of Noxon, which may quell some concerns brought about by the studio’s dismissal of Brenda Chapman (Brave). After replacing Chapman with Mark Andrews (John Carter), the studio later revealed that the former Brain Trust member, Chapman, had left for a position at LucasFilm Animation.
But back to Noxon. Though well-versed in both the fantastical and the more realistic worlds of live-action TV series, the writer will cut her teeth in animation on the unnamed Pixar project. We recently reported that Pixar has an untitled film now due for release around Thanksgiving of 2015. Perhaps that’s the picture Noxon has signed on for? There are also the untitled Dia de los Muertos and the untitled Trip Inside the Mind pictures to consider. The latter already has writer Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3) attached, but perhaps Noxon would assist. The writers may share parallel career tracks as Arndt originally worked at Pixar only half of the year, but soon became a full-timer and the only writer on the Brain Trust. If things go well for Noxon, she may well be the second full-time writer beside Arndt.
