In the event that you haven’t picked up all of the previous Marvel movies separately, the studio has a beast of a Blu-ray collection headed our way.  We previously reported that a 10-Disc special edition set was in the works, and now Amazon has provided a listing for Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One – Avengers Assembled.

Hit the jump for more details.  There’s currently no official release date or price for Avengers Assembled, but Amazon says more information about the set will be announced on July 15th, which makes a 2012 release highly likely.  The Avengers will hit Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital Download on September 25th.  If Avengers Assembled does hit this year.

According to Amazon, the limited edition collection includes:

  • Marvel’s The Avengers (Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray)
  • Captain America: The First Avenger (Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray)
  • Thor (Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray)
  • Iron Man 2 (Blu-ray)
  • The Incredible Hulk (Blu-ray)
  • Iron Man (Blu-ray)
  • Bonus Disc – “The Phase One Archives” (Blu-ray)
  • Collectible packaging with exclusive memorabilia from the Marvel Cinematic Universe

I already own half of these movies on Blu-ray (Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and Captain America), I have no interest in owning Iron Man 2 or Thor, and so I’ll just pick up The Avengers on its own, and hope that the “Phase One Archives” isn’t the most amazing bonus disc ever created.  Also, if you don’t own a 3DTV, three of these discs will be useless.  However, the Marvel die-hards will descend on this set like a Chitauri army, so check back on July 15th for more the complete details.

I hope the package will be the tesseract in the suitcase.

No love for Ang Lee’s HULK. Marvel must really hate that film plus most other people I gather.

    • Liam_H

Movie was not made by Marvel, they’re universe didn’t start until Iron Man in 2008.

      • Justin

Actually, the first movie apart of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while not intended to be apart of a larger story at the time, was The Incredible Hulk, not Iron Man. The Incredible Hulk was not Ang Lee’s Hulk, but instead the one starting Edward Norton which was pretty fantastic.

      • RobGuu

Don’t listen to “Justin”. Iron Man was, in fact, the first of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies.

The storyline goes in the order they were released:

        Iron Man (May 2, 2008)
The Incredible Hulk (June 13, 2008)
        Iron Man 2 (May 7, 2010)
        Thor (May 6, 2011 (USA)/April 21, 2011(Australia)
        Captain America (July 19, 2011 (World premiere)/July 22, 2011 (USA)
        The Avengers (April 11, 2012 (Worldwide premiere)/May 4, 2012 (USA)

It will continue on with Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 in that order.

You can check Marvel.com for the source on all of this.

Ang Lee’s hulk is awesome and so unusual, but you’re missin the point. That film isn’t part of the “Marvel Cinematic Universe” so it has no place in this… really, are there still people out there who didn’t know The Incredible Hulk was a reboot?

  • loki

no iron man 2 or thor in your MCU collection? = FAIL

    • Ryder

I totally agree, Iron Man 2 was a respectable sequel and Thor arguably was the best or 2nd best of the whole Marvel universe. By Matt saying that he has no interest in owning either of those movies shows that he shouldn’t be writing these articles IMO

  • tarek

Ang Lee’s HULK is a piece of dung. Move along.

    • IllusionOfLife

Amen. Hated it when I watched it back in 2003, but due to the persistent “it’s terribly underrated” crowd I decided to give it another shot recently. I regret that decision immensely.

  • Briskey87

Explain to me how the Incredible Hulk was a reboot? They show flashbacks from the first one in the movie for god sakes and even keep a couple of the same actors…. Its the first one to be acknowledged as a part of the “Marvel film universe”. Hardly a reboot though.

and to the idiot “loki” who posted below the idiot “yahzee”, BOTH of those films ARE in the collection… Read before you speak.

    • Jesus

He was obviously referring to the films not being in Goldberg’s collection. Reading comprehension with internet morons is depressingly bad.

    • Michael

“The Incredible Hulk” was effectively a “soft reboot” – new cast, new approach, but it never explicitly confirms or denies the events of Ang Lee’s “Hulk”. The flashbacks are vague enough that they could be to the events of Hulk or they could be to a similar but different version of the origin. My understanding is, basically, that Marvel didn’t feel the need to do the origin again, and so they made a movie which can work with Hulk but doesn’t have to.

Explain to me how you actually think that there are scenes and actors from Ang Lee’s Hulk in the reboot? Watch the movie before you speak.

    • williamk.

I normally don’t respond to any posts, but I HAD to because of how backwards everything Briskey87 says is. Hulk was THE DEFINITION of a reboot! Not a single actor or shot or scene from HULK is shown or even flashed to in The Incredible Hulk. Just because it’s not an origin story doesn’t mean it’s not a reboot. AND it’s not the first to be acknowledged as part of the MCU, Ironman is. Doy. AND Loki was referring to Matt’s collection of the MCU, not the box set. Seriously?? And to top it all off, you tell Yahzee to read before speaking. And just in case we didn’t get it, you posted it twice. GENIUS level thinking here. Not only should YOU read before speaking, you should watch the movies your speaking about.

    • Marvellous

It was a totally different cast for The Incredible Hulk. The only thing that was the same was the setting at the start of the movie being in South America, which is Where Ang Lee’s Hulk left off… Reason being is because The Incredible Hulk was supposed to be a sequel at first, but then Marvel decided to have it completely rebooted, and made a new script based off of the script that was intended for the sequel.

      • Luc

It’s a sequel AND a reboot. A reboot is not a remake, it is a different approach. You can do a sequel to a movie with a different approach to the characters and style than the first movie. Happens all the time in comics, the way I remember it.

      • Marvellous

What are you talking about? It has no connection to Ang Lee’s Hulk, different actors for every characters, and even the way they mention the back story its different. I don’t remember Betty Ross getting hurt by the Hulk in the 2003 movie, but they made numerous references how Betty was injured by the Hulk in the past in the 2008 movie. It’s not in any way a sequel.

    • Marvellous

oh and ‘loki’s’ comment about Iron Man 2 and Thor was toward the person who…. oh nevermind!

    • Phoenix

Loki’s comment was about the author of the article not having the films in his collection, not that they won’t be included in the Boxset.

Take your own advice and “read before you speak.”

  • CL

Looks like the suitcase that holds the Cosmic Cube. Hope it includes a glowing replica of the Cube. That’d be kinda cool. A fitting concept for “Phase One.”

  • lokilover

Look people, this is a comment adding area, not an argument area. Get with the times….

  • Cliff Stevens

What’s everyone’s problem? If you like any of the movies — doesn’t matter if they are in the “collectible set” or not — watch, rent or buy them. If you like HULK, just buy it separately. Some collectors will buy ANYTHING based on Marvel characters or DC or both. Isn’t looking for and collecting them half the fun anyway? Its the films that count, not the packaging. Personally, I’ve moved my Rocketeer over to this section because of its connections to both Iron Man and Captain America. Its all about personalizing your collection.

  • Shaun

So, Matt… Why wouldn’t you want Thor? I’m not saying it was the greatest movie ever, but it wasn’t bad at all. I quite enjoyed it actually, as the movie had a sense of humor about itself, it wasn’t as inaccessible as I feared it might and Branagh brought enough grandeur to it all. Hemsworth was good, Hiddleston was even better, and it was just a fun little movie.

I expect Thor 2 will be more cosmic and delve deeper into the mythology of it all, but the first movie was a good intro to character and his world.

Iron Man 2, however, was pretty terrible and I never bothered with that one either. Huge letdown after the first Iron Man. I hope IM3 can get back to being as fun as the first one (and The Avengers, for that matter).

    • SP1234

Because he probably panned Thor just like any other good movie out there. Like Snow White, that rocked.

      • Flyersfan20

I actually think he gave Thor a B+ or something along those lines, which is kind of surprising :P

      • Thundersauresrex

Snow white was a dull half assed non epic with borish action and awful writing with awkward performances aside from charlize Theron who i only give top maks cause of her half nude scene in the water. the tense of her magic adn the spell was disjointed. the romantic beats were weird with the random irriational kissing a dead girl. the movie was made hoping the audience remember every little thing about the fairy tale.; horribly done and fucking sucked. MOVE ALONG SP1234

  • Pocketses

Not wanting Thor in your collection makes no sense and immediately discredits your opinion on just about everything. Iron Man 2 may have sucked, but Thor was better than the original Iron Man. I’d put it just behind Captain America as the best of the lead in films.

    • MR.Rich316

Saying that Matt not wanting to own Thor discredits his opinion on just about everything is asinine. The man saw it, didn’t love it enough to own it, and said he doesn’t want to buy the new set because he owns the Marvel movies that he wants to own. Just because his opinion of Thor doesn’t match yours doesn’t make him an idiot or discredit his opinion. I’d think less of him if he said he was going to re-buy it all to get the 2 movies he didn’t like. I don’t want to read reviews from studio shills, I would like honest opinions about products before I make my decision to spend my money.BTW , I thought Thor was very entertaining, and I will most likely(depending on price) be picking this set up.

    • Ray

I personally still think I’d give iron man 2 a 6.5 to 7/10 It didn’t “suck” to me. Thor was better for me the second view really liked Chris and Hiddleston as Loki.

  • alk

why would people flock out and buy this? when they know perfectly well there’s an upcoming iron man 3, thor 2 and another captain america in the works…..you just know they’re gonna release another ultimate edition with the added movies in 5 years..
WASTE OF MONEY. you already have the individual movies..why must you spend more money.

  • mark

the reson to get it is that this is phase 1 so after avengers 2 they wont put the next couple of films in a set called phase 2

  • mark

i mean they wont put phase 1 and 2 in a set together they will make a second set phase 2 with the films leading to avengers 2 and avengers 2

  • GR33K

Ange Lee’s 2003 Hulk was quite good . it just wasnt a great movie. I think its equaly good with the Incredible Hulk nothing more. The Avengers hulk is BY FAR the best one.I hope they ll make a movie with Mark Ruffalo and a Ant Man / Giant Man movie with Wasp in it before Avengers 2.

*The most OVERRATED MOVIE OF ALL TIME AWARD goes to THE DARK KNIGHT*

DC cant make a decent cinematic universe. thats why we wont see a PROPER Justice League Movie EVER.

WAKE UP PEOPLE AT DC COMICS. U CANT EVEN COMPETE WITH MARVEL.

    • Cool Story Bro

      lel

      “0/10″

Green Lantern & Superman Returns sucked though, I’ll give you that.
