Though I remain an essential skeptic of the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's hard to argue against the fact that Phase Two of this undertaking has shown a tremendous improvement over Phase One. There are a handful of genuinely excellent films in Phase Two, beginning with Shane Black's wildly imaginative Iron Man 3, and followed quickly by Ant-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Heck, now that I'm thinking about it, I'm even a pretty open fan of Avengers: Age of Ultron, and it certainly was a more engaging and engrossing motion picture, in almost every sense of the word, than the original Avengers.

So, the impending release of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Two Blu-ray Box Set, which will be available on Amazon exclusively starting December 8th, is something of a minor bit of anticipation, considering all the films - save that snoozer Thor: The Dark World - have big re-watch value. In the rev-up to the release of the box set, Collider got an exclusive look at the disc art for the films included in the box set, including a pretty sweet image of Josh Brolin's Thanos sitting on his floating throne-chair-thing.

The handsome designs are courtesy of Matt Ferguson (@Cakes_Comics), a hugely talented artist who got some attention not all that long back for creating some beautiful self-designed posters for all of the Star Trek films, and has also designed posters for a variety of other cult films and superhero movies. He's certainly outdone himself on this round - I'm a particular fan of Ant-Man but that's probably more because I'm a huge Ant-Man fan. You can go here to pre-order or purchase the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Two Blu-ray Box Set...and perhaps send an extra one to a lowly entertainment news writer, eh?
