Disney is laying claim to release dates in 2014 but for what?  Box Office Mojo reports that the studio has set “Marvel Untitled 1″ for May 16, 2014 and “Marvel Untitled 2″ for June 27, 2014.  I could conjecture which movies will fill those dates, but I willing to bet that Marvel doesn’t know either at this point.  Maybe a Captain America sequel or maybe The Avengers 2, but keep in mind that Marvel also has spinoffs in the works for Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie, plus there are smaller movies (Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange) that could fill those slots.  Marvel already has their summer 2013 slate with Iron Man 3 due out May 3, 2013 and Thor 2 hitting on July 26, 2013.

Hit the jump for release dates for an untitled films from Pixar and director Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas).

Elsewhere in 2014, a new Pixar movie will open on May 30th.  The studio already has mystery flick due on November 27th, 2013 and it could be what Up director Pete Docter has been working on.  Perhaps November 27th film has been pushed back to May 30, 2014 (although BOM says it’s a new date).  And hey, maybe it’s Toy Story 4.  There’s also the possibility that it’s a completely new film that they’ve managed to keep secret.

Finally, an untitled Henry Selick film is set for October 4, 2013.  Could it be his second collaboration with Neil Gaiman or another untitled project? I’m just glad we’re getting a new film from Selick and that unlike these other untitled project, I won’t have to wait until 2014 to get it (because October 4, 2013 is sooo much closer).

This is all great because I can now plan my upcoming events around a schedule that’s over two years away.

  1. Maybe The Incredible Hulk 2? Not that the first one was anything great (I found it just ok), but I’m curious what a sequel would do.

  2. I’m hoping this mysterious new Pixar movie will be NEWT, which they randomly decided to scrap. Hopefully they came to their senses and proceeded with what looked like a great story.

  3. i hope they do Antman next. don’t know anything about the source material, but Edgar Wright makes very distinctive films(and good ones) that will make it memorable and not just another superhero flick.

also, isn’t the Henry Selick now at Pixar? wouldn’t his next project be a Pixar movie? i heard he left Laika and joined Pixar. i sure hope his next movie will be a Pixar animation studios film. their crew is phenomenal!

  4. This is another fine example of following a jump that leads to absolutely nothing. Not a big waste of life by itself, but these add up, ya know.
