Marvel Shops Four Drama Series and a Miniseries Totaling 60 Episodes to VOD and Cable Networks

     October 14, 2013

Word has it that Marvel is shopping a content package of four drama series and a miniseries that totals 60 episodes.  Potential suitors include Netflix, Amazon and WGN America, with both digital platforms and traditional cable networks interested in working with the red-hot company.  Few details are available at the moment as the offering is in very early stages and there is currently little talent attached.  Whether it’s a new content provider looking to establish its platform with a host of Marvel programs or a successful network interested in including Marvel’s brand in their slate, this is likely to be a huge deal at the end of the day, especially considering the 60-episode commitment.  Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has already received a full season orderat ABC, and we know that Hayley Atwell is interested in Marvel’s Agent Carter series.  As Deadline reports, there’s no confirmation that the Carter series is part of the rumored package or if it’s been set aside for ABC.  Keep an eye out for future developments on this story.

theres so much great potential here! a nova corps or miss marvel show would really help guarantee box office success for guardians of the galaxy, and an agent carter show would be a great supplement to captain america and agents of shield, and really help deepen the backstory for those two series. but i agree with other people, heroes for hire is pretty much tailor made for a weekly tv series. and i know that guillermo del toros live action hulk is probably dead at this point, but i can still dream..

I’d prefer they really work on revamping Agents of SHIELD to be a better (less boring, less bland) show before shopping even more programs… But I’d love to see Heroes For Hire, Daredevil, Moon Knight, or Runaways made into shows.

But only if they prove they can turn SHIELD into a show worth watching first.
