Matt Jumps into the HOT TUB TIME MACHINE 80s Party

Last weekend, I headed to Lake Tahoe to do the press junket for Hot Tub Time Machine.  Before I continue, let me say that film is damn funny and that’s good because I would have felt conflicted about having an awesome time at the 80s party MGM threw the following night if I hadn’t enjoyed the film.  The reason it was an 80s party is that the film centers on four guys (played by Rob Corddry, John Cusack, Clark Duke, and Craig Robinson) who travel back to 1986 and Corddry, Cusack, and Robinson’s characters get a redo when they discover that their rose-colored nostalgia glasses aren’t worth shit.

After the jump, you’ll find all the photos I took at the party as well as some of the beautiful scenery and the casino in the hotel where money goes away.  I’ve only noted myself and the stars in the photos, but if you attended the party and want to be credited (or if you want your photo taken down), let me know and I’ll update the caption (or take down the photo).

Hot Tub Time Machine hits theaters on March 26th.

Click on any of the images to see them in hi-res.

For those just tuning in, here’s the official synopsis for Hot Tub Time Machine:

HOT TUB TIME MACHINE follows a group of best friends who’ve become bored with their adult lives: Adam (John Cusack) has been dumped by his girlfriend; Lou (Rob Corddry) is a party guy who can’t find the party; Nick’s (Craig Robinson) wife controls his every move; and video game-obsessed Jacob (Clark Duke) won’t leave his basement. After a crazy night of drinking in a ski resort hot tub, the men wake up, heads pounding, in the year 1986. This is their chance to kick some past and change their futures – one will find a new love life, one will learn to stand up for himself with the ladies, one will find his mojo, and one will make sure he still exists!

This would be pretty great on your Facebook page. Why is it on Collider?

  • http://collider.com Matt Goldberg

Because I went on behalf of Collider. Of course, that's not to say that some picture didn't make onto my Facebook page…

  • nNark

Wow, thank god all those pics of Matt are here! And in Hi Rez! That's why I come to Collider!!

  • nNark

Oh… I was being sarcastic. Dork.

Yeah but Steve doesn't drown us in pictures of himself with “celebrities” every time he goes some place. We're all very happy you went to a party finally but I don't know that it really counts as news.

  • NightAvatar

That looks like a lot of fun!

That's actually a Poison record not whitesnake i believe

  • http://collider.com Matt Goldberg

    It's Whitesnake. I checked.

I'm sorry someone's forcing you to read this article.

Oh, I was being sarcastic. Schmuck.

It raises awareness about the movie. I was encouraged by both Steve and MGM to take lots of pictures.

Not sure where you checked but you're wrong. That is the cover for Talk Dirty to Me by Poison. Check again. Nice photos.

My bad, the album was Look What the Cat Dragged In. That is Poison's first album though. Whitesnake's first album came out almost a decade before in 1977. It looks nothing like the Poison one.

Goddammit, Internet. I hate that there's misleading information on it.

I've updated the story with the correct info. Thanks, Kyle and Mr. W.
