For his next project, Matthew McConnaughey may turn to the world of independent film with The Headhunter’s Calling. The laid-back actor is eying the lead role outlined in the script from first-time screenwriter Dill Dubuque. Details are scarce, but Pajiba provides a brief synopsis: “A workaholic corporate headhunter [has alienated] his family for years and [lets] his cutthroat business compromise his ethics in pursuit of financial gain, until he finds out his oldest has leukemia and decides that family is more valuable than anything else.”
Doesn’t sound too outside the box, but I prefer my McConnaughey attached to this kind of project rather than another trite rom-com. McConnaughey will next be seen opposite Marissa Tomei, William H. Macy, and Ryan Phillippe in an adaptation of the legal thriller The Lincoln Lawyer when it hits theaters March 18, 2011.
