First Trailer and Poster for MEAN GIRLS 2

Paramount Pictures has released a trailer for the upcoming direct-to-DVD sequel to 2004’s Mean Girls, appropriately titled Mean Girls 2.  As expected, the original film’s wit and stars are nowhere to be found.  Instead, the film looks cheap, not funny, and just bad.  In fact, the only thing I kept thinking about while watching the trailer was how much I ended up enjoying Mean Girls, and how I wish Tim Meadows was a bigger star so that he wouldn’t have to be the only returning actor from the previous movie.  You can check out the poster, trailer, and read a plot synopsis for the film after the jump.

Here is the plot synopsis for Mean Girls 2. via Vulture

The story revolves around a new high school student, Jo, who agrees to befriend an outcast, Abby, at the urging of Abby’s wealthy father in exchange for paying all of Jo’s costs for the college of her dreams. Jo and Abby team up to take on the school’s “mean girls,” the Plastics. The story becomes a high stakes battle of loyalty that ultimately comes to a head when one of our heroines finds out that her friendship has been bought and paid for.

The first one worked so well because the cast was fun and the material was pretty fresh. This one looks really bad, even if it wasn’t a “2fer”. But the fact that it DOES follow a really funny and under rated film makes it just that much worse.

I think I’ll skip it. That 90 mins could be put to better use…

You know its gonna be bad, when they don’t even have the real green color at the beginning like a normal trailer.

You know it’s gonna be bad, when they have to show scenes from the previous movie so you know it’s “Mean Girls” or “American Pie” or “SAW” or “Snow Buddies” etc….

The cast for the first movie was really good, on top of the jokes pointed at valley girls it had to be funny. But this just looks stupid as hell. Perhaps if Tim Meadows had standards he wouldn’t get stuck in crappy movies like this.

Hey, leave Meadows alone. He’s clearly being targeted by Star Whackers or the mob or creditors or whatever would put him up to this. On that note, cocaine is a hell of a drug…
