The Hangover had a great cameo with Mike Tyson and now there’s an expectation for the sequel to top it. Actress Sasha Barrese (who played Justin Bartha’s wife in the first film and will return for the second movie), told E! Online last week that the cameo in The Hangover 2 is “unbelievable”. She goes on: “It’s the best cameo you’ve ever seen in your entire life. It’s a guy, [but] that’s all I’m going to say. It’s the best.”
We may now know who the “guy” is. For people who don’t want to be spoiled, we’ve put the info after the jump.
The New York Post is reporting that the “guy” is Mel Gibson. NYP is reporting that in The Hangover 2, which takes place in Thailand, Gibson will play a “Bangkok tattooist.” Gibson is expected to shoot his role in two weeks on the Bangkok set the production has built on the Warner Bros. lot.
While this seems like a sensible move at career rehabilitation Gibson following his ugly rants to his ex-girlfriend that leaked online, I don’t know if he can ever come back from those, at least not so soon. The problem is that, unlike his 2006 DUI incident, there’s audio this time and that audio will always serve as an instant reminder. People will happily re-dub it over anything he ever said or will ever say.
I’m also slightly worried that his inclusion may be distracting, but I’m confident that director Todd Phillips will make it work (assuming Gibson is indeed the rumored cameo).
