First Logo for MEN IN BLACK 3 (or “MIIIB in 3D”) and SPIDER-MAN in 3D

This post of early looks at film logos is dedicated to the upcoming slate of Sony.  The notable debuts include:

  • Men in Black III (3D), which will bring back Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones back to the alien franchise, with Josh Brolin set to co-star as a young Agent K
  • The Zookeeper, the Kevin James talking-animal comedy which features Sylvester Stallone, Adam Sandler, Jon Favreau, Judd Apatow, and Cher among others as the voices of the zoo critters
  • The Smurfs, an adaptation of the comic strip/animated series which features Hank Azaria and Neil Patrick Harris among the live-action cast, while Anton Yelchin, Jonathan Winters, Katy Perry, Alan Cumming, Fred Armisen, George Lopez, and Paul Reubens will voice the Smurfs
  • Spider-Man in 3D.  I think the logo speaks for itself. It’s clear they don’t know what it’ll be called yet, but it’s definitely going 3D.

One thing to note is the inclusion of the Ghostbusters logo.  It’s not a new image to the franchise, but the fact that Sony is putting it out there suggests they’re committing to making Ghostbusters 3 a reality.  It makes sense financially, but public appearances by Bill Murray have made it seem like less of a certainty.

  1. This is fake? The pirates logo in the back? Commmon list a source. The pirates font look like pirates of the carribean which is Disney not sony. Unless Sony is doing a huge rip off. This looks mad fake

  2. its probably fake
MIB3/Ghostbusters if its actually happening and we get a real trailer for it then i might see it

  3. I think The Pirates! is referring to the book series by Gideon Defoe. While I have a couple of them, I've not actually read them so I can't tell you whether a movie adaptation is a good or bad idea.

  4. It's not the same, it's definitely in the same style though. It's teetering that line between 'inspired by' and 'blatantly ripped-off.'

I do hope they change the Spider-Man logo, though. They've already slapped the original franchise in the face enough by doing a reboot so soon, at least have the decency to come up with a new logo.

  5. lol They even used the same old font for Spider-Man…

Cool to see MIB will be back though and a chance for the younger crowd to see 'Ghostbusters' on the big screen.

  6. Wow, it seems really very interesting. I had watched both parts of Man in Black and now really want to watch this movie as soon as possible. These logos are really amazing and I think people will surely gonna like this.

  7. Heard about MIB3 ages ago and doesn't surprise me to see it jumping on the 3D bandwagon.

Zoo critters sounds like a blatant Madgascar rip-off to me.

All well I'm stoked for MIB3 and a new Ghostbusters (heard GB3 will be animated) and I'll probably go see the spiderman reboot.

  8. You saw Men in Black 2 and you're excited to see the new one?

I was very disappointed by the second one. The story was just more or less the same. It's similar to Austin Powers: Goldmember. Where everyone wanted in on the franchise that led to cheesy cameos and a story that didn't have the same fun energy when it was fresh.

  9. Is nobody excited about the logo for “The Pirates!” Those books are ridiculously absurdist and fun! Assuming the movie is based on the Gideon Defoe series.

  12. 3d is code for “this movie is gonna suck, but you're morons, so here's an annoying gimmick that lets us charge more for tickets.”

  13. There is no way they're keeping the same Spiderman logo for the reboot. That would be EXTRA retarded. That has to be a re-release of the original.

  14. I have a hunch that the next Spider-Man and Ghostbusters films are going to be called just that: “Spider-Man” and “Ghostbusters”. They're both reiterations of their own respective franchises; giving them numbers or subtitles would make the films seem less appealling to a young demographic. I can't see the studio releasing films called “Spider-Man Begins” or “Ghostbusters III” in 2012 or 2013.
