The first trailer for Men in Black 3 has gone online.  The plot for the sequel involves J (Will Smith) going back in time to rescue K (Tommy Lee Jones).  If I didn’t know that the script was most likely a mess, I would be slightly excited after seeing this trailer.  Smith is back with his full-blown charisma and Josh Brolin is a pitch perfect young K.  Maybe there’s a chance that somehow the script worked itself out?  I’d certainly rather see a good MIB movie than a bad one.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The film stars Alice Eve, Emma Thompson, Johnny Knoxville, and Jemaine ClementMen in Black 3 opens in 3D on May 25th.

Here’s the synopsis for Men in Black 3:

In Men in Black 3, Agents J (Will Smith) and K (Tommy Lee Jones) are back… in time. J has seen some inexplicable things in his 15 years with the Men in Black, but nothing, not even aliens, perplexes him as much as his wry, reticent partner. But when K’s life and the fate of the planet are put at stake, Agent J will have to travel back in time to put things right. J discovers that there are secrets to the universe that K never told him — secrets that will reveal themselves as he teams up with the young Agent K (Josh Brolin) to save his partner, the agency, and the future of humankind.

  1. The part where J said “He smiles like this: -_-” was hilarious. I really want to see this movie, and I hope it turns out well.

  2. Nothing wrong with that dialog. Studio closes down production on a film to get it right? Sounds like good filmmaking decision to me. I’m in!

  3. I’m in the same boat, Matt. I really want this to be good, but the production troubles don’t give me a lot of hope. Fingers crossed, though.

  4. The movie looks like a complete mess and will turn out bad. The 2nd was disappointing and the 3rd looks horrible. I don’t see why anyone would get excited for this.

  5. Looks a whole lot better than I thought it would look. When I first heard of the time travel plot with Josh Brolin playing a younger K I was kind of bummed because it meant less screen time for Tommy Lee Jones, but after seeing how spot on Brolin was with his young K impression I seriously couldn’t be more excited.

Here’s to hoping it’s nothing like the absolutely horrible MIB 2 and more along the lines the first MIB, which is still a classic in my eyes.

  6. Everyone seems to forget that the first one had a TON of script problems. The entire movie had to be reshaped in editing because it was unnecessarily complex and confusing. Sometimes shoots that have gone horribly wrong turn out fun, whereas films that had smooth productions turn out to be DOA.

  7. I didn’t really like the last two, decent but nothing special, this looks unremarkable too, Will Smith must have run out of money.

  8. How old are you, Matt Goldberg? 12? I love this site, but your attitude constantly stinks and your trash-talking takes your articles down to the cheapest level of journalism.

    • Just like your wonderfully uplifting and positive comment?

If you don’t like it, don’t read it. Stop pissing and moaning like a child.

  9. A person essentially assist to make seriously articles I would state. This is the first time I frequented your website page and up to now? I amazed with the research you made to create this actual submit incredible. Fantastic job!
