Just a couple days ago, it was reported that Paramount was in discussions with producer Steven Spielberg and director Michael Bay to return for Transformers 4 and 5 which they are considering shooting back-to-back. The news was a little strange, as Bay had previously declared that Transformers: Dark of the Moon would be his last outing with the robot franchise (Shia LaBeouf said he was done as well). Now Bay is setting the record straight, as he confirms on the Shoot for the Edit message boards (via Tformers) that he’s not involved with the next two Transformers films at all:
“I am currently not talking to Paramount on T4 and T5 despite reports. I’m looking at a lot of possibilities coming my way right now weighing options. Most likely going to be doing the low budget Pain and Gain, a true story crime thriller. It’s a very quick shoot and quite funny. Also just finishing the 3 disc set of the Transformer trilogy.”
Pain and Gain is, of course, the low budget passion project that Bay has been itching to take on for quite some time now. So folks can rest easy that another director will be given the keys to the billion-dollar toy franchise, and we’ll be seeing a new iteration of Transformers within the next few years (possibly starring Jason Statham?).
Pain and Gain sounds awesome. The article it’s based on is pretty damn good. You guys should post a link to it.
I love Bay’s Transformers movies, but I want him to direct something new. And Pain and Gain is definitely the right project.
Do it, Bay! And then give us BAD BOYS 3! The planet needs that movie!
the Planet ? So your little name is Planet ? ^^
Hey look, a random moron with a dumb nickname is trying to be funny!!
Try again, TAREK. Maybe next time you’ll make me laugh. I’m not holding my breath though.
What’s with you throwing Jason Stathem in the mix constantly? Boner for him much Adam?
Um like can someone talk to Hasbro and say why dont they get director Zack Snyder (300) to direct the Transformers 4 & 5 films instead.
Why are you pushing for Jason Stathem? no one has said Stathem will be in the film, NOBODY at all. Only this site. Holy mis-information.
Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan ARE NEVER GOING TO MAKE Transformers movies. It will not happen, because Snyder would never work under Bay, and neither will Nolan.
PS – the list of potential directors posted on this site is also a joke.
The only logical move, for those who have been paying attention is to bring back Robert Orci and Alex Kurtzman to work with Kruger as Writer Directors. They have been very successful in the re-imagined Transformers Prime series, worked on the two previous pictures, and have the years with Hasbro/Paramount that show them to be a good fit.
FYI Cool >Snyder is a $hit director

A good reporter should always get the news…
from another reporter.
Both Stathem and Bay have now both debunked the story.
This is not the first time Stathem has been tied to a TF story on this site was my point. I also don’t seem to be alone in thinking you have a thing for the actor – which is not a personal attack, just an observation.
No Michael Bay please and I hope in the first 5 minutes of part 4 Shia and his parents get sat on and killed by Optimus , like whoops my bad
The writer that Bay has used on the Transformers movies has a penchant for racial stereotypes. I expect bull*** from the Wyans Bros. but not a Speilberg production.
T3 still had the twins but they were the small bots. Whatever!
Bay is a hack and Stephen is in it for the movie.
Lets move in people!
