Some quick casting updates for you today. Here they are at a glance:
- Michael Emerson (Lost) has joined the cast of Woody Allen’s next film, an untitled picture that he plans to shoot in the US.
- Big Bang Theory co-star Melissa Rauch will join the romantic dramedy, You Are Here, the directorial debut of Mad Men creator, Matt Weiner.
- Ben Schwartz (House of Lies) joins Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake in the gambling drama, Runner,Runner.
More bad news for Kitsch: Catching Fire is a no-go. As he is attached to Battleship director Peter Berg’s next film, Lone Survivor, there is a good chance that both films will be in production around the same time. When contacted by the LA Times about the potential role, Kitsch replied simply: “Not going to happen.” Now, onto some verified casting news!
Per Deadline, Emerson will join Alec Baldwin, Cate Blanchett, Bobby Cannavale and Bradley Cooper in the untitled Woody Allen film. Emerson will film while on hiatus from his television series, Person of Interest. The pic is set to shoot in New York and San Francisco this summer.
THR reports that Rauch will join Owen Wilson, Zach Galifianakis and Amy Poehler in the romantic dramedy, You Are Here. The story follows a weatherman (Wilson) who embarks on a journey to find a healthy relationship after the passing of his father. Galifianakis plays his best friend who accompanies him. Rauch will play “an over-coiffed and over-dressed call girl” when the picture shoots later this month.
Finally, THR also reports that Schwartz will join Runner Runner, directed by Brad Furman (The Lincoln Lawyer). Taking place in the world of online gaming, a gambler (Timberlake) becomes ensnared in an increasingly tense relationship with an offshore gaming CEO (Affleck) after losing money to him. Schwartz is set to play Timberlake’s friend. Runner, Runner also stars Gemma Arterton, Anthony Mackie and Sam Palladio and begins production in Puerto Rico this summer.
