With the 2010 Scream Awards paying tribute to the 25th Anniversary of Back to the Future, Michael J. Fox recently re-shot the teaser trailer for the original film to help promote the event. You can check it out after the jump along with the original teaser, so you can compare them.
I actually got to see Back to the Future last night in a movie theater as I’m in London and Universal rereleased the film in the United Kingdom. I forgot how perfect the movie is and how well it stands up even after 25 years. AMC Theaters is re-releasing it stateside later this month.
The 2010 Scream Awards airs October 19 at 9pm on Spike TV with Michael J. Fox, Lea Thompson and Elisabeth Shue reuniting on stage.

With all the remakes its truly amazing that Universal has not relauched this franchise. Fox could play apart as could Chris Lloyd.
I’d be happy with a 15 minute short film showing what happens to Marty after the events of the 3rd film. That’s how badly I want another Back to the Future episode.
For a while, there were plans to have a 4th film, but as Michael J. Fox decided to concentrate on curing his Parkinson’s, and he couldn’t do the film. So then they were going to do it with just Doc and his family going off on adventures, but Christopher Lloyd refused to do the movie without Fox.
That’s actually all rumors. There was never a plan, at least on part of the filmmakers, to make a part IV.

A lot of movies have or will get remade. There is a handfull of movies that can never be remade. BTTF is one of them.

Knowing Hollywood, they’d remake BTTF with Shia Labeouf or Justin Beiber. It would be a nightmare, but would still make a ton of money. I don’t understand who these people are that want things like this done…

No reboots. No sequels. No nothing. Ever. The BTTF trilogy is perfect, it does not need to be fucked with by the Hollywood suits.
Anyone that even remotely considers someone like Shia Lebuttfuck being put in MJF’s shoes needs to be shot.

The thing about remakes is that when you remake a film, you do what the original filmmakers couldn’t do with the characters, the story, and how it was shot. You have to have those three elements to have a successful remake, in my opinion. With BTTF, the way I see it, only part of those three elements could be touched up. The way it was shot regarding the visual effects aspect of the films. BUT even then, the effects still stand the test of time very well, they fit and really don’t need to be touched up. Could they be touched up in a “Lucas” way? Yes they can. But you don’t need to. The characters and the story are perfect, if not perfect, then very well near perfect. NOW, with films, in my opinion again, that have been pretty descent remakes off the top of my head are The Thing, War of the Worlds, and The New Batman Movies(considered reboots, I know). John Carpenter’s The Thing was VERY well done and kept true to the original intent, they did what the original couldn’t do, they enhanced on the characters, the story, AND the way it was shot. Same with War of the Worlds, whether you liked Cruise’s portrayal or not, it was an interesting take on the characters and kept true to the nature of the story’s suspense while creating the tripods that wasn’t technologically possible back in 1953. The new Batman Movies, I don’t think I need to get into those. So, with those three elements needed for a successful remake, I wouldn’t rule out a good remake of anything. But even if BTTF was remade, it doesn’t mean that the original is tainted and you can’t watch it anymore. I’m just saying, don’t bash something that doesn’t exist nor have you gotten a chance to see. You may enjoy it.
BTTF part one was as perfect as a movie could get. I write and have been for 20 years and that movie is the yard stick by which one measures a movie in terms of balance. If they remake it I wouldn’t go see it. Hell, look what happened with the Indy Jones movies. Meh!
But Hollywood effs up classics all the time.
I here we’re going to get yet another Superman movie. The first with Chris Reeves was astonishing but the franchise went downhill from there. Two was ok though, IMHO.
