The first Michelle Darnell image from the upcoming comedy has been unveiled. The film is based on a character created by Melissa McCarthy during her time with the Groundlings, and she co-wrote the pic with her husband Ben Falcone, who directs. McCarthy plays a woman fresh out of prison after an insider-trading charge who crafts a new scheme involving a “misfit Daisy troop” that relies on the free labor of the young Girl Scout-esque troop members. She’s not alone in her plan, though, as she’s aided by her former assistant, played by Kristen Bell.

McCarthy and Falcone’s first film, Tammy, was a bit of a disappointment, but that movie suffered from a schizophrenic tone. Michelle Darnell looks to have a more comedy-centric premise, and I’m highly encouraged by the ensemble cast that they’ve put together, which includes Peter Dinklage, Timothy Simons (Veep), and Kathy Bates. If there ever were a way to recover from an underwhelming debut, adding Peter Dinklage to the cast of your follow-up is a major step in the right direction.

The R-rated pic is still in production and doesn’t come out April 8, 2016, but the first image has been released online courtesy of the folks at EW. Check it out below.
