Universal has released new plot details for Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone's upcoming comedy Michelle Darnell and set the film for a 2016 release.  Based on an original character of McCarthy's own creation, the film will follow titular Michelle Darnelle after she's released from prison for insider trading.  Ready to rebrand and move on with her life, Darnell find that not everyone she screwed over is eager to forgive. McCarthy and Falcone are writing the film with their Groundlings collaborator Steve Mallory.

The film is set to hit theaters Friday, April 8th, 2016.  Clifford The Big Red Dog originally held that release date, but will be rescheduled at a later time.  McCarthy and Falcone previously teamed up to deliver Tammy in 2014, and Michelle Darnell is the first of three projects they've got in the pipeline.  Check out the official details after the jump.
