The trailer for Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris has gone online.  The film centers on a man (Owen Wilson) who is in Paris with his wife (Rachel McAdams) but begins going off on his own a midnight to explore the nightlife the city has to offer.  It’s tough to be excited for Midnight in Paris since Woody Allen insists on turning out one film per year regardless of whether or not it’s a film worth making.  While he has a great cast lined up (Michael Sheen especially looks to be having some fun), a Woody Allen film these days is a crapshoot and at best he feels like he’s repeating himself.  Hopefully Midnight in Paris will offer a change of pace, but nothing in the trailer hints that it will.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  Midnight in Paris also stars Kathy Bates, Carla Bruni, Marion Cotillard, and Adrien Brody.  It opens May 20th and will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

Here’s the logline for the film:

A family, including a young couple, travels to Paris, France for business and have their lives transformed.

Looks a little different than some of this other films, but it looks like a very good Woody Allen movie to me.

I’m also getting a good vibe for this. I like Owen Wilson in a Woody Allen film. Seems a good fit. I also get the feeling that the trailer is holding something back, which I also like.

My taste in Woody Allen films seems to run contrary to most, though. I think my favorite is Manhattan Murder Mystery, and I can’t imagine many others have the same opinion. :)

i’m with you guys. this looks good. and those shots of paris by Allen and his DP Darius Khondji is very appealing and seductive… plus the story doesn’t seem to be irritating like When You Meet Blah blah..

but i definitely agree that Allen makes bad films as much as he makes good films, even great films(Annie Hall, Manhattan, Zelig, Hannah and Her Sisters, Crimes and Misdemeanors). it’s just who he is. but somehow, this new one feels different. URRGGHH! i can’t get over those Paris shots and it’s appealing cast. i mean, Rachel McAdams in Paris? with Owen Wilson being very appealing and not irritating(not unlike in other movies). heck i’m in! though i have to say i will just watch this on bluray.

It’s an insult to Adrien Brody and other big stars that they are neither on the cover poster nor in the trailer. Owen is not the only star in town and this is so unfair.
