Walt Disney Pictures has chosen a prime release date for director Craig Gillespie’s (Fright Night, Lars and the Real Girl) upcoming baseball film Million Dollar Arm.  Based on a true story, Jon Hamm plays a washed-up sports agent who travels to India and sets up a televised, national game show “Million Dollar Arm” to see if any cricket players might cut it in the major leagues.  The film will kick off the summer movie season as a bit of counter-programming on May 16, 2014, where it will open opposite Warner Bros.’ Godzilla and one week before X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Million Dollar Arm boasts a screenplay by The Station Agent and The Visitor scribe Tom McCarthy and also stars Suraj Sharma (Life of Pi), Madhurt Mittal (Slumdog Millionaire), Bill Paxton, Lake Bell, Aasif Mandvi, Pitobash, and Alan Arkin.
