New images from Paramount Pictures' Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation show off star Tom Cruise's impressive stunt work, accompanied by his co-stars Rebecca Ferguson, Jeremy Renner, and Ving Rhames. "Impressive," you say? "Impossible," you claim? Just take a look at the 52-year-old actor running across the wings of plane preparing for take-off, then clinging to the outside of it as it leaves the ground and tell me you're not amazed. Now if you want to see them all engage in some more impossible action, be sure to watch the recently released trailer for the Christopher McQuarrie-directed film, due out on July 31st.

The following first-look Mission: Impossible 5 images come courtesy of USA Today, along with some quotes from Cruise and McQuarrie themselves:

Believe it or not, that's Cruise himself taking a casual stroll along the wing of an Airbus A400, the same plane he's seen hanging on to by his fingertips in the above trailer:

"I've often sat on airplanes, looked out and thought, 'What it would be like out there on the wing?' ... "That's me the whole time. I was standing right over the tires when we landed. It's nerve-racking for everyone else, but pretty exciting for me."

Since Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol saw the 52-year-old Cruise scaling the world's tallest Building - Dubai's Burj Khalifa - McQuarrie cops to the fact that they had to go even further (and higher) in this film:

"We knew anything we did was going to be compared with the Burj. But it's not like you could wait for someone to build an even taller building. We keep pushing the envelope."
