A demigod is nothing without his titles, and the same goes for Khaleesi. While Emilia Clarke’s character on Game of Thrones is a woman of many names, Dwayne Johnson’s Maui seems hellbent on catching up in this new clip from Disney’s Moana.
The new footage from the animated film shows Johnson’s Hawaiian demigod Maui when he encounters Moana, a new heroine who needs his help in her great adventure. But first, she needs to get his name right: It’s “Maui, Shapeshifter, Demigod of the Wind and Sea, Hero of Men and Women.”
Of course, he needs a few more descriptors if he’s going to surpass “Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, First of Her Name, the Unburnt, Queen of Meereen, Queen of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men, Khalisee of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons.”

Newcomer Auli’i Cravalho voices Moana, a young girl who sets out on an epic quest to save her people. If you hand’t guessed by this clip, Maui is much more full of himself than she is — and, like most old folks, he doesn’t understand Twitter.
Alan Tudyk (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Jermaine Clement (What We Do in the Shadows), former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, Rachel House (The Hunt for the Wilderpeople), and Phillipa Soo (NBC’s Smash) help round out the voice cast.
Moana will be released on November 23. Here’s the official synopsis:
Three thousand years ago, the greatest sailors in the world voyaged across the vast Pacific, discovering the many islands of Oceania. But then, for a millennium, their voyages stopped – and no one knows why. From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Moana,” a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana (voice of Auli’i Cravalho) meets the once-mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity.
