The daily TV ratings are back now that we have a bunch of new shows to watch sink and die! (Or live long and prosper, who knows?) In any case, the Monday TV ratings for September 21st are in, and here are some of the highlights:
- At 8 p.m., CBS’s The Big Bang Theory returned to dominate the ratings for the night with 17.48 million viewers, although its 4.5 rating in the key 18-49 demographic was down an entire point from last year’s season premiere.
- The new season premiere of The Voice was down four tenths from the last cycle to a (still strong) 3.5 rating and 12.1 million viewers for NBC, also at 8 p.m.
- The Season 2 premiere of Gotham was way down from last year’s series premiere numbers (3.3) to a 1.6 rating and 4.49 million viewers. (You can read Dave's review of the first few episodes here).

The premiere of CBS’s new comedy Life in Pieces kicked off to a healthy (these days) 2.7 rating and 11.52 million viewers at 8:30 p.m. At 9 p.m., also on CBS, Scorpion’s second season premiere stayed even with last year’s finale of a 2.2 rating and 10.98 million viewers (its premiere last year garnered a 3.2).
- Pilot season’s biggest flop so far is Minority Report on Fox at 9 p.m., which debuted to a (surprisingly?) low 1.1 rating and 3.09 million viewers. Cold! (You can read Chris' thoughts on the series here).
- NBC’s new series Blindspot at 10 p.m. was the night’s biggest pilot success, getting a 3.1 rating and 10.6 million viewers, helping NBC win the night both in the ratings and with viewers overall. (You can read Chris' review of the pilot here).
- Remember in the Emmy opening skit when Nathan Fillion asked if Andy Samberg had seen Castle? Well, not many others have (so far this season, anyway). The season premiere on ABC at 10 p.m. garnered a 1.2 rating and 7.09 million viewers even with the series-low season premiere of NCIS: Los Angeles on CBS at 10 p.m., which notched a 1.2 rating and 8 million viewers.
