Limited Paper Preview: Mondo’s IN PROGRESS Gallery Show Opens Tonight, Features Aaron Horkey, Jock, Martin Ansin, and More

     January 25, 2013

Today’s the day, folks!  After much speculation and anticipation, the Mondo Gallery will finally open the doors on its first show of 2013.  In Progress is a collection of sketches, line drawings, and other pre-finalized-poster artwork from artists like Jock, Aaron Horkey, Martin Ansin, Laurent Durieux, and many more.  Wanna see some preview images from tonight’s show and hear what you can expect from Limited Paper in terms of coverage?  Meet me after the jump, folks.

As far as contributors go, we already know that tonight’s show at the Mondo Gallery will feature original artwork—sketches, line-drawings, and whatnot—from some of the company’s best artists, including Martin Ansin, Ken Taylor, Jock, and Aaron Horkey.  As far as prices go, though, we’re not sure what to expect.  Will these pieces run into the several-thousand-dollar range, or will they run in the slightly-more-affordable several-hundred-dollar range?  There’s no doubt everyone’s excited about the show, but there are concerns over whether or not that excitement will lead to…affordability.

Good news is, we don’t have to purchase badass artwork in order to appreciate it, so—no matter what happens tonight in terms of the pricing at In Progress—we’re sure to get an eyeful.  And in anticipation of that eyeful, Mondo has posted a number of preview images from the show on the Mondo blog (you can find that over here LINK:;  and you should absolutely head that way, as they’ve got fascinating bits of commentary attached to each of the below images).  Let’s take a look at what awaits us at tonight’s show:

  • The Return of The King by Aaron Horkey

  • The Iron Giant by Laurent Durieux

  • Go Ape! by Jason Edmiston

  • West of Memphis by Jock

Pretty snazzy sketches, no?  Again, there’s no doubt that just about any collector would love to have any of these pieces in their collection…but following a massively expensive Christmas and the absurd amount of poster-buying that most of us did in 2012, how many of these OGs will we be in a position to purchase?  Only time will tell, folks, but if you’ll tune into the Limited Paper Twitter feed later tonight (that’s @LimitedPaper, if you’re nasty), we’ll be sharing photos from the show’s press opening and answering whatever questions you might have.

And tomorrow?  Well, tomorrow morning (or, perhaps, late tonight) we’ll update you with our standard video walking tour of the entire show, along with a more detailed description of the events and—god willing—some awesome photos.  As is always the case around here: if you’re an artist or gallery with artwork you’d like to see featured on Limited Paper (or if you’re just some lucky bastard who happened to overhear a bit of poster-related gossip while standing in the bushes outside Martin Ansin’s house) we wanna hear from you!  Email Limited Paper directly at, and be sure that you’re following us on Twitter via @LimitedPaper for ongoing commentary, news updates, giveaways, and more!
