A new Japanese trailer has gone online for Pixar's Monsters University.  While it's a bit strange (for me) to not hear John Goodman and Billy Crystal voicing the film's protagonists, it does allow the visuals of Pixar's prequel to shine through.  And there are a lot of shiny things to be found.  The trailer is definitely spoilery since it rolls through what appears to be the entire plot of the film up until the climax, but it also reveals that there is much more to this story than simple dorm room shenanigans.

Also featuring the vocal talents of Steve Buscemi, Ben Kingsley, Helen Mirren, David Spade, Alfred Molina and Ricky Gervais, Monsters University opens June 21st.  Hit the jump to watch the new trailer.

Here’s the official synopsis for Monsters University:

Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are an inseparable pair, but that wasn’t always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn’t stand each other. Monsters University unlocks the door to how Mike and Sulley overcame their differences and became the best of friends.
