Morgan Freeman & the Cast of ‘Ben-Hur’ Name the Film’s Unsung Heroes
The new Ben-Hur movie is a massive production, boasting big talent like Jack Huston and Toby Kebbell, and a couple of very impressive set pieces including director Timur Bekmambetov‘s rendition of the iconic chariot race sequence. When watching a studio spectacle of this scale, it can be easy to forget about all the folks behind-the-scenes who are instrumental to bringing this classic tale to screen.
With the movie hitting theaters on August 19th, I got the chance to chat with Huston, Kebbell, Morgan Freeman, Rodrigo Santoro, Nazanin Boniadi and Pilou Asbaek about making the film, and specifically about who they’d name the unsung hero of the movie. Find out who they think deserves more recognition for their work on Ben-Hur in the video interview at the top of this article. And, in case you missed it, click here for my full interview with executive producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey.
Here’s the official synopsis for Ben-Hur:
BEN-HUR is the epic story of Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell), an officer in the Roman army. Stripped of his title, separated from his family and the woman he loves (Nazanin Boniadi), Judah is forced into slavery. After years at sea, Judah returns to his homeland to seek revenge, but finds redemption. Based on Lew Wallace’s timeless novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ. Also starring Morgan Freeman and Rodrigo Santoro.
