If you want strong, quiet dignity with a voice so reassuring that you want it for every audiobook ever made, you call Morgan Freeman. That’s why him shouting “Somebody kill THIS motherfucker!” in “Wanted” was one of the best movie moments of 2008. Watching Freeman subvert his image has great comedic potential and it looks like Josh Cagan and Greg Coolidge’s script, “Old Dirty Man” may do just that. Hit the jump for more details.
According to THR:
The script, which had a working title of “Dirty Old Men,” revolves around an aging playboy who finally meets the love of his life and his best friend and wingman for the past 40 years (Freeman) who does everything to break up the new couple. The tone is described as similar to “Wedding Crashers” and “The 40-Year-Old Virgin.”
Freeman has attached himself to the Warner Bros. flick with Peter Segal (“Get Smart”) in talks to direct. The studio would love to get Jack Nicholson on board as the friend of Freeman’s character since they co-starred in “The Bucket List” and that film went on to make $93 million dollars for WB. Nicholson is not attached to the project and he’s aware of it since his agent probably has his Google Alert set to pick up “aging playboy”.
Freeman will next be seen this December in Clint Eastwood’s “Invictus” where he’ll play Nelson Mandela, the former president and wingman of South Africa.
