A new trailer for director Darren Lynn Bousmanâs remake of the 1980 horror film Motherâs Day has gone online. The film stars Rebecca De Mornay as a crazytimes mother who helps her three fugitive sons take care of a few unwanted houseguests. Bousman is best known as the director behind Saw II, III and IV, but his previous directorial effort, 11-11-11, came and went with barely a whimper. Motherâs Day looks to place him back in Saw-esque territory, and it appears to be a fairly effective horror/thriller. The movie was actually filmed back in 2009 and screened at Fantastic Fest 2010, where our own Bill Graham called it a âsurprisingly fun mixed bag.âHit the jump to watch the trailer. The film also stars Jaime King, Deborah Ann Woll, Briana Evigan, Alexa Vega, Shawn Ashmore and Matt OâLeary. Mother's Day hits theaters for a limited engagement on May 4th, with a Blu-ray/DVD release to follow on May 8th.Click over to Yahoo! to watch in HD.Hereâs the synopsis outlined in Billâs review:
We open on Addley, Johnny, and Ike Koffin as they flee from the law after a botched bank robbery has severely wounded Johnny and they are left with no other option but returning to their motherâs old home. However, they are surprised to find that the property is under new ownership after being foreclosed and bought months earlier, and they have guests; a lot of them. As they struggle to contain the situation, they resort to calling Mother (Rebecca De Mornay) to help them escape. No one is safe as lies and deadly secrets are revealed when the guests are exposed to Motherâs sadistic ways of getting exactly what she wants.
