Yesterday we posted a few new images from director Rob Marshall’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. In case you missed them, Disney has just sent over all the new images but now they’re in high resolution, so hit the jump to check them out. You can see Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz and Ian McShane. Pirates 4 hits theaters May 20, 2011.
Here’s the synopsis:
Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Rob Marshall, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” captures the fun, adventure and humor that ignited the hit franchise—this time in Disney Digital 3D™. Johnny Depp returns to his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow in an action-packed tale of truth, betrayal, youth and demise. When Jack crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), he’s not sure if it’s love—or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. The international cast includes franchise vets Geoffrey Rush as the vengeful Captain Hector Barbossa, and Kevin R. McNally as Captain Jack’s longtime comrade Joshamee Gibbs, plus Sam Claflin as a stalwart missionary and Astrid Berges-Frisbey as a mysterious mermaid.

I’m still pissed they ditched Bloom and Knightly.
Wait, you’re pissed that they dropped the DEAD WEIGHT? The fact that they dropped Bloom and Knightly is one of the only reasons why I’m thinking about checking it out, after how much 2 and 3 disappointed me!
I agree, screw Bloom and Knightly. I’m glad they’re gone.

Bloom made the right decision to pass on this one. It looks too linear, therefore BORING already. Jack doesn’t have the depth to carry the entire movie on his own. The first POTC was a success because of the three principles, Bloom, Knightley, and Depp. Two out of three dynamic principles absent and leaving the character that doesn’t develop, doesn’t have depth, but just is…not good. They should have stopped with the third one.
