Unlike Matt, I actually had fun reading both “The Da Vinci Code” and “Angels & Demons”. I don’t claim the books are well written. What I will say is they are fun vacation reads. Or if you’re on a plane and need something to do.

Saying all that, I was very disappointed with the movie version of “The Da Vinci Code”. I thought the movie didn’t come off the page as well as it should’ve, and I also thought they stayed too close to the book fearing fans would backlash if they changed anything. But while most people didn’t enjoy the film, it made a crapload of cash. So in a few weeks we’re finally getting another film version of a Robert Langdon adventure as “Angels & Demons” hits theaters May 15th.

And even though I was let down by their first attempt, I’ve seen a decent amount of footage from this new film and I think it looks a lot better. While the proof will be in the pudding, I’m walking in open minded and optimistic.

So to help promote the film, we’ve been given 8 movie clips from “Angels & Demons” and they’re below the synopsis. Take a look and judge for yourself:

The team behind the “The Da Vinci Code” returns for the highly anticipated “Angels & Demons”, based upon the bestselling novel by Dan Brown. Tom Hanks reprises his role as Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon, who once again finds that forces with ancient roots are willing to stop at nothing, even murder, to advance their goals. Ron Howard returns to direct the film. Here’s the synopsis:

What terrifying discovery would make the Vatican turn to Robert Langdon, the man who cracked history’s most controversial code? When Langdon discovers evidence of the resurgence of an ancient secret brotherhood known as the Illuminati – the most powerful underground organization in history – he also faces a deadly threat to the existence of the secret organization's most despised enemy: the Catholic Church. Upon learning that the clock is ticking on an unstoppable Illuminati time bomb, Langdon travels to Rome, where he joins forces with Vittoria Vetra, a beautiful and enigmatic Italian scientist. Embarking on a nonstop, action-packed hunt through sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs, deserted cathedrals, and even to the heart of the most secretive vault on earth, Langdon and Vetra will follow the 400-year-old Path of Illumination that marks the Vatican's only hope for survival.
