Do you like Neil Gaiman? Do you like "Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas?" Of course you do - so chances are you will probably like Focus Features' upcoming film "Coraline" as well.

Based on the 2002 'young adult novel' by Gaiman and directed by stop-motion animator Henry Selick, "Coraline" is the story of a young girl who discovers a parallel version of her own life through a mysterious door in her room. I would tell you more, but why strip the featurettes of their only mysteries?

Now, if you are not a person who pays close attention to film credits, you may be asking yourself – "what does "The Nightmare Before Christmas" have to do with this "Coraline" movie? It turns out that Henry Selick was also the director of that perennial favorite – not Tim Burton. Go figure! I would have gone to my grave believing that Tim Burton was responsible for directing Jack and Sally if I hadn't been fortunate enough to watch the "Coraline" videos that Focus sent over.

Other stuff you should know before watching the FIVE featurettes – "Coraline" is the first stop-motion animated feature to be filmed exclusively for 3D screens. The featurettes won't give you the full feel of the technology (even Quick Time has its limits) but the footage still looks good in any dimension.

Focus has also switched up the "Coraline" release date. Formerly announced for this December, the film will now hit theatres in February 2009.

And finally, here is a partial list of voice actors featured in "Coraline": Dakota Fanning as our heroine, Teri Hatcher and John Hodgman as her parents and Ian McShane ("Deadwood") as her crazy Russian neighbor.

Enjoy!

Featurette #1 – Henry Selick and Neil Gaiman Bring Coraline to Life

Featurette #2 – Crafting the World of Coraline

Featurette #3 – The Story of Coraline

Featurette #4 – Meet the Inhabitants of Coraline’s World

Featurette #5 – Coraline in the Higher Dimensions

They’re waiting for you – meet Coraline, Wybie, Mr. Bobinsky, and more of the extraordinary characters in CORALINE

She’s ready for her close-up – Coraline Jones (at center, on table) is the title character of CORALINE

Author Neil Gaiman and director Henry Selick discuss the motion picture version of CORALINE
