I’m a sucker for science, so this bit of news pleases me greatly: the ever-interesting Discovery Channel series Mythbusters is planning a Breaking Bad-centric episode.  That’s right, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman are set to tackle a couple of experiments inspired by events from AMC’s stellar drama series Breaking Bad.  Moreover, stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul will be making an appearance in the episode.  Just what Breaking Bad science will they be testing?  Hit the jump to find out.

Per EW, the idea of doing a Breaking Bad episode of Mythbusters has actually been in the works for some time:

“We’ve been wanting to do a Breaking Bad episode for awhile,” says Mythbusters host Adam Savage. “Obviously there’s a lot of fertile material to play with, so things that happen on the show have been ending up on our list of stories to tackle for a couple years now. And when [showrunner] Vince [Gilligan] said in an interview that he’d love to see a Mythbusters/Breaking Bad crossover, we reached out to him directly and the response was overwhelming positive.”

One of the experiments that will be tested in the episode deals with an event from the show’s first season, in which Paul’s Jesse Pinkman memorably used hydrofluoric to dissolve a body in a bathtub instead of using a plastic container.  A second experiment based on another undisclosed scene from season one will be tested by Tory Belleci, Kari Byron, and Gran Imahara, but apparently the two ideas were so “meaty” that Savage and Hyneman jettisoned plans for a third experiment (which may be saved for a sequel episode).

Though I was secretly hoping for a magnets-centered experiment (Yeah, bitch!), I’m very interested to see how the acid/flesh/tub one turns out.  The episode is being filmed this week and is set to air during the show’s tenth season next spring.
