We’ve got a ton of stuff to get through in Limited Paper today, including a look at Mondo’s next big gallery show (featuring artwork from Australian duo We Buy Your Kids), FroDesignCo’s series of Mythic Beasts Travel Posters (featuring Limited Paper’s spirit animal, the Chupacabra), Gallery1988’s Rated G (featuring work from Justin White), and—because why the hell not—we also need to provide an update on our latest contest/giveaway while teasing the next one.  Phew.  Bring a bookmark and meet me on the other side of the jump, my fellow poster junkies.Since Limited Paper started earlier this year, we’ve been fortunate enough to see a bunch of artists and galleries join our readership (every so often, I’ll get an email from [insert name of artist you love here], and will be totally stunned to find out they’re a Limited Paper reader), and they’ve been great about giving us a head’s up whenever they’ve got something new on the horizon.  Since I’m the only one writing Limited Paper, virtually all of the “rounding up material for content” responsibilities falls on my shoulders, and whenever an artist or gallery reaches out to let us know they’ve got something in the works, it’s a huge help towards keeping things running smoothly here at Limited Paper HQ.Today’s installment of Limited Paper, for instance, is composed entirely of announcements and links provided by the artists and companies who help make up our readership, and we thank ‘em all for giving us the head’s up.  Obviously, we can’t always feature everyone we get contacted by, but we always do our best to represent as wide a variety of artists, galleries, and up-and-comers as possible.  If you’re running a gallery or producing artwork you feel is on-par with the rest of what we feature in this column, don’t hesitate to drop us a line:  you might just end up helping us fill out a future edition of Limited Paper alongside Gallery88, Mondo, and the other big guys. With that said, let’s get started.FRODESIGNCO’S MYTHIC BEASTS TRAVEL POSTERS: BECAUSE YOU’VE ALWAYS WANTED A CHUPACABRA ON YOUR WALLEarlier this week, we ran a preview of Bottleneck Gallery’s latest show, The Gang’s All Here, and in that writeup we featured a glimpse at artist Fernando Reza’s poster for Attack The Block (that show, by the way, opens tonight, and Reza’s Attack The Block print will probably see some online sales when Bottleneck puts the show’s collection up for online sale tomorrow at 12pm EST).  Following that post, Reza reached out to Limited Paper to let us know that he had a whole series of prints going up for sale that we might be interested in, and—whattayaknow—he was right.  Let’s take a look at FroDesignCo’s Mythic Beasts Travel Posters, all of which are 18x24” giclee prints ($35 individually, $120 for the set of six):

  • Bigfoot Country

  • Fairy Gardens of Derbyshire

  • Alligators of Manhattan

  • Frogman of Loveland

  • Loch Ness

  • Chupacabras of Puerto Rico

Like it says above, each one of these is available via FroDesignCo/Reza’s website for $35 apiece, or you can get the entire set for $120.  The whole set’s pretty charming, and would be precisely the sort of thing I’d hang in my kid’s bedroom if I weren’t so opposed to having children (Sorry, Mrs. Limited Paper!).  I was impressed with Reza’s work here, and it inspired me to do a little poking around on the rest of his site…which is when I came across this:

Holy shitballs:  how is this the first time I’m seeing this piece?!  Apparently, this Time Bandits print is a follow-up to another Gilliam-related piece that Reza produced for the Canadian-based Uber Cool Stuff.  That one was a poster for Brazil:

Fernando-Reza-Brazil

Now, you may well own all these already and be longtime members of the Fernando Reza Fan Club, but this was the first time I’d seen any of this stuff, and I’m really impressed with all of it.  Brazil was produced last year, but it looks like the Time Bandits print is still available via Uber Cool Stuff at this link.  If any of this stuff is doing it for you, I suggest heading over to Reza’s main page to check out some of his other past works:  he’s successfully blown Limited Paper’s skirt up today, and we’ll be keeping tabs on him in the future.

AUSTRALIAN DUO WE BUY YOUR KIDS INVADES THE MONDO GALLERY ON NOV. 27TH

As we saw with the Brandenburg & Drake show, the Adventure Time show, and Jay Shaw’s Don’t Go Out Tonight, the Mondo Gallery has made good on its promise to devote a substantial amount of their gallery’s time and space to artists Mondo likes…but who don’t get as much play in their week-to-week drop schedule.  While we all love it whenever Mondo does a big-ass, big-name blowout at the gallery—something along the lines of their Universal Monsters show, or the sci-fi themed spectacle that served as the Mondo Gallery’s first show—we’ve also seen some of the gallery’s best work come out of these smaller shows, and it looks like the Mondo guys have decided to close out 2012 with another one of these:  Tina’s Mom’s Boyfriend, which will feature an entire gallery’s worth of artwork from the Australian duo known as We Buy Your Kids.

The show itself is set to open on November 30th and will run through January 5th.  In anticipation of the event, Mondo has released a pair of promo images from the show, one for Beetlejuice and one for Conan.  Let’s take a look at those now:

Whoa, that Beetlejuice is pretty outstanding.  If you happened to attend Mondo’s flat file sale last week, you might’ve noticed the showcards that Mondo was handing out during that little get-together.  Same image as above, of course, but for those of you who just looove looking at fliers, we’ll go ahead and re-run that image for you below.  Stay tuned for more on Tina’s Mom’s Boyfriend as we get closer to the show’s November 30th opening!

GALLERY1988’S RATED G—FEATURING NEW ART FROM JUSTIN WHITE—OPENS TODAY!

It’s been quiet on the Gallery1988 front for some time now—earlier this year, you’ll recall us offering weekly updates on their Breaking Bad series—but just this week they reached out to tip us off about a new show they have opening today, an exhibition of artwork from Justin White they’re calling Rated G.  As was the case with the work of Fernando Reza above, we weren’t super-familiar with White’s work until getting the head’s up from the Gallery88 guys earlier this week.  But after seeing some of what he’s got in store for Rated G, he’s definitely got our attention.  Here’s some preview images from that show (which, again, opens tonight at Gallery88’s Melrose location):

  • Alien by Justin White

  • Breaking Bad by Justin White

  • Drive by Justin White

  • Community by Justin White

  • Creature From The Black Lagoon by Justin White

As longtime readers of Limited Paper know, the quickest way to my heart (and, more importantly, my wallet) is to produce artwork based on Creature From The Black Lagoon.   And so, with the image above, Justin White has earned himself a spot on our “Persons of Interest” list here at Limited Paper.  If you’re interested in seeing more images from Rated G, you can head on over to White’s blog page, and if you’re interested in picking up one or two of these for yourself, you can either hit up Gallery88’s Melrose location this evening or head on over to the Gallery88 website tomorrow, where they’ll be dropping a number of these in an online sale at an undisclosed time.  Prepare your PayPal-fu skills, ninjas.  We’ll end this section on White’s Rated G take on Fight Club, which is very clever, indeed:

UPDATE:  WHAT’S GOING ON WITH THAT “DESIGN A LIMITED PAPER LOGO” CONTEST?

We’re glad you didn’t really ask.   On November 9th, we announced our latest contest/giveaway, a chance to win one of Craig Drake’s outstanding The Hunger posters (designed for a recent showcase held at Seattle’s Ltd Art Gallery) by designing a logo for Limited Paper.  Just a week or two prior—when we’d been giving away Drew Struzan’s epic Creature From The Black Lagoon poster—we’d allowed readers to do the same, and the turnout was tremendous.  We looked at the number of logos designed for that giveway and thought, “Y’know, this looks like something people are into”, and so we made it the entire theme for the Craig Drake/Hunger giveaway.

And yet, we’ve seen a much smaller number of entries for this contest than we did on the Struzan one.  Obviously, there’s going to be a higher demand for a ~$700 poster than a brand-new piece from Craig Drake (which isn’t to cast any aspersions whatsoever on the quality of Drake’s piece;  for our money, that Hunger print is one of the year’s best), but still…with the number of people that turned in logos on the previous giveaway, we figured we’d end up with more than we have.  So far, we’ve had only 10 entries or soon the Drake/Hunger contest (and one of those entrants has submitted about a dozen logos, all of which are outstanding).  Point being:  You have until midnight tonight to design a Limited Paper logo and submit it to LimitedPaper@Gmail.com (use I DESIGNED A LIMITED PAPER LOGO! In the subject line), and we’ll be announcing the winner tomorrow.  You’re not going up against too many potential winners, folks, so really…get cracking if you want a chance to win.

That about does it for today’s Limited Paper, folks, but there’s plenty more in the near future:  on top of tomorrow’s announcement regarding the winner of our last contest, we’re going to be announcing yet another giveaway, this one in conjunction with the fine folks at Brooklyn’s Bottleneck Gallery.  We can’t tell you exactly what they’re going to be putting up as a prize, but we can tell you it’s going to be extremely rare and that it may have bean-juice spilled on it.  As always, if you’re an artist or gallery with artwork you’d like to see featured on Limited Paper (or if you’re just some lucky bastard who happened to overhear a bit of poster-related gossip while standing in the bushes outside Martin Ansin’s house) we wanna hear from you!  Email Limited Paper directly at LimitedPaper@gmail.com, and be sure that you’re following us on Twitter via @LimitedPaper for ongoing commentary, news updates, giveaways, and more!
