Wonder Woman will not die.  David E. Kelly is a bizarre choice to run the show, and the networks seemed to realize this when they passed on Wonder Woman in unison.  But where there’s a will (and a deeply troubled network), there’s a way: NBC has picked up Kelley’s Wonder Woman reboot.  I hope to see a live-action Wonder Woman in my lifetime, but not like this.  Not like this at all.

This report comes among a flurry of pilot season news involving such talent as Steven Spielberg, Conan O’Brien, Ethan Hawke, Rob Thomas, Tim Kring, and more.  Hit the jump for a recap.

All reports come from Deadline and The Live Feed.  Let’s break it down by the network

Wonder Woman
Written by David E. Kelley (Boston Legal)
“The project is described as a reinvention of the iconic D.C. comic in which Wonder Woman — aka Diana Prince — is a vigilante crime fighter in L.A. but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life.”

Mann’s World
Written by Michael Patrick King (Sex and the City)
“A one hour drama following the complicated life of Allan Mann, a celebrity hair stylist in glamorous Los Angeles as he navigates the complexities of his business, his family life, and his goal to stay relevant in a world that moves quickly.”

Smash
Written by Theresa Rebeck (Cantebury’s Law); Base
d on an idea by executive producer Steven Spielberg;
“An hourlong musical series that follows characters who come together for the exhilarating ride of putting on a Broadway musical.”

I Hate That I Love You
Written by Jhoni Marchinko (Will and Grace)
“A twisty, single-camera romantic comedy in which a straight couple introduces two of its lesbian friends to one another and what results is both instant attraction and a pregnancy.”

Sadly, NBC passed on the supernatural drama Ghost Angeles, an O.C. reunion between creator Josh Schwartz and Rachel Bilson.  Odd Jobs starring Lost buddies Terry O’Quinn and Michael Emerson has been pushed to the next development season, in part because the script was turned in very late in the process.

NBC previously ordered a magical police procedural from Battlestar Galactica‘s Ronald D. Moore and Playboy, which follows a group of women working in the New York Playboy club in the 1960s.

Exit Strategy
Written by David Guggenheim (Safe House); Produced by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci; Ethan Hawke stars
“Ethan Hawke will play Eric Shaw in the drama Fox describes as a ‘high-octane action show about a CIA extraction team.'”  Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) will direct the pilot.

Touch
Written by Tim Kring (Heroes)
“The hourlong drama centers on a father who discovers his autistic, mute son can actually predict events before they happen.”

Little in Common
Written by Rob Thomas (Party Down)
Centers on families whose children play little league sports.”

Iceland
Written by Andy Brobow (Community)
“A single-camera ensemble comedy centered on a group of friends who are reunited and nurture each other after the death of one of their own.”

Tagged
Written by David Guarascio and Moses Port (Aliens in America)

“A workplace comedy set at the Baltimore County coroner’s office and centers on the dysfunctional relationship between a logical pathologist father and his emotional son.”

Vince Uncensored
Written by Phoef Sutton (Terriers); Executive produced by Conan O’Brien
“Centers on a man who, after a life-changing experience, decides to take a more honest approach to his life, work and family.”

CBS previously ordered Ringer, a thriller in which Sarah Michelle Gellar stars as a young woman on the run from the mob.

Just the two from CBS as of this writing, and nothing yet from ABC.  But we’ll try to keep up as best we can as more orders come in.

Rob Thomas has put some great TV on the air — Veronica Mars, Party Down, Cupid 1.0 — so I’m rooting hardest for Little in Common to make it through.  I’m intrigued by Tangled, Smash, and Playboy (I watch it for the articles, I swear).  Wonder Woman will never not seem like a terrible idea in Kelley’s hands.
