Opening this weekend is director Nicholas Stoller’s extremely funny R-rated comedy Neighbors. The film stars Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne as a married couple with a newborn baby who must deal with a fraternity—fronted by Zac Efron—when it moves in next door. Response to the pic’s premiere at the SXSW Film Festival was highly positive, and the theater I was in loved the film. It’s definitely something you should see with a big audience next weekend. Neighbors also stars Dave Franco, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Jake Johnson, Ike Barinholtz, Carla Gallo, Jerrod Carmichael, and Lisa Kudrow.
A few days ago at the New York City press junket I landed an exclusive video interview with Zac Efron and Dave Franco. They talked about inappropriate t-shirts, making Neighbors, how much they improvise versus thinking about the scene beforehand, if they were asked to say anything that went too far, and they talk about their X-rated handshake that even Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg thought went too far. Hit the jump to watch.
Zac Efron and Dave Franco:
- Inappropriate t-shirt talk.
- How much do they actually improvise in the moment versus trying it out the night before?
- Was there anything that Stoller or someone asked them to say that they said no way?
- They talk about an X rated hand shake they came up with that Rogen and Goldberg told them went too far.
