Looking back at Prometheus (and especially at the special features on the Prometheus Blu-ray), it may have been better if someone other than Ridley Scott had directed a new Alien movie.  Perhaps the man for the job should have been District 9 and Elysium director Neill Blomkamp, who recently posted some concept art for an Alien film he was working on, although it appears to be in an unofficial capacity.

Hit concept art is interesting because while some of it could have easily fit into a new Alien sequel such as the Queen and the Engineers' ship, there are also some intriguing drawings such Ripley strapped with an explosive device and standing next to a facially scarred Hicks (his scarring presumably the result of the acid blood he took to the face in Aliens).  It's possible that these designs were just a leisurely activity for Blomkamp, something he may have wanted to pitch to Fox, or perhaps they were for a video game rather than a film.  I hope someone asks him about this the next time he does interviews (I assume it will be around March when his new movie Chappie opens), and I'd love to learn the story behind what he was working on and why he was working on it.  Hit the jump to check out this unofficial Alien concept art from Blomkamp.
