Appearing at Nerd HQ during the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con will be artwork from creative studio Elevendy that features Seth Green, Zachary Levi, Nathan Fillion, Stan Lee, Felicia Day and more in various “Nerds vs. Aliens” pieces. The one-of-a-kind prints feature today’s most famous nerds taking the fight to invading aliens, all in an effort to raise money for Operation Smile. The auction of seven 24″x36″ gallery-wrapped canvas prints and one massive 14’x3′ canvas print will go towards helping children afflicted by cleft lips and cleft palates, a worthy cause if ever there was one. And here are a few quotes from the people involved:
Dave Cox, CEO Elevendy
“These ‘nerdy’ folks are all amazing, it’s really cool to see this next generation of people growing in their careers together. It’s a real family atmosphere with everyone working towards a common goal. Our staff really took to the project and were fueled by our desire to help put smiles back on kids faces through Operation Smile.”
“It truly takes a village to pull off a piece like this, from our internal Elevendy team members, to volunteers on costuming, hair, and makeup… not to mention hours and hours reaching out to nerdy celebs to be involved.”
Robyn Mircoff, California Development Director, Operation Smile:
“Operation Smile is an international children’s medical charity, we take care of kids in over 60 countries around the world that are born with cleft lips and cleft palates. Since 1982 we’ve operated on over 200,000 children around the world.”
“1 in 10 children born with a cleft don’t live to see their first birthday, so it’s something where we’re trying to take care of as many children as possible and partnerships like these with Elevendy are a great way to raise more awareness for what Operation Smile does and inspire other people to get involved.”
Zachary Levi, Actor/Nerd, Founder of The Nerd Machine:
“Personally I’m very stoked that Operation Smile gets to be the charity of choice that’s benefitting from this. We’re excited to be the exclusive release partners of the finished piece at Nerd HQ during SDCC 2013.”
Alison Haislip, Actress/Nerd:
“I’m really excited because all of this is for charity”
