Movies from Paramount, MGM, and Lionsgate Set to Hit Netflix’s “Watch Instantly” Service

If you dig Netflix’s “Watch Instantly” service as much as I do, then this news is going to make your morning.  The New York Times reports that Netflix has signed a deal with Paramount, MGM, and Lionsgate to stream movies from those studios beginning on September 1st.  If you want a list of movies that will probably be available, click over to, which is the company that holds the rights to movies in Paramount, MGM, and Lionsgate’s libraries.  Such films include Iron Man, Star Trek (2009), The Godfather trilogy, and a hell of a lot more.  I don’t know if all of these films will be available beginning September 1st, but even a small sampling should have folks adding movies to their Instant Queues like crazy.

I love Watch Instantly service with the a borderline-disturbing passion.  I have about 300 movies and TV shows in my Instant Queue and it’s a steal to have them available anytime for only $8.99 month.  This past weekend I used Watch Instantly to see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Three O’Clock High, and For All Mankind.  If you own an Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and/or a Wii, then getting Netflix is a must for any self-proclaimed movie-lover.  With this deal, it looks like my Instant Queue is going to blow up far beyond 300 titles.
