Samuel Bayer’s A Nightmare on Elm Street hits theaters on April 30th, and the various trailers that are floating around look pretty creepy, but this first clip from the film looks awesome. It’s Freddy Krueger, played by the brilliant Jackie Earle Haley, stalking Nancy Thompson (Rooney Mara) in a grocery store while “All I Have to Do Is Dream” plays in the background. It’s exactly what you’d expect, but the scene gives you a good look at the new Freddy, whose face is a lot more grotesque this time around.
Hit the jump to check out the clip along with the official synopsis.
Here’s the official synopsis for A Nightmare on Elm Street:
Freddy Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley) returns in “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” a contemporary re-imagining of the horror classic. A group of suburban teenagers share one common bond: they are all being stalked by Freddy Krueger, a horribly disfigured killer who hunts them in their dreams. As long as they stay awake, they can protect one another…but when they sleep, there is no escape.

I don't know why but I can't wait for this remake.
the first movie came out when i was nine, i think i saw it when i was about 12. loved it ever since, many viewings. part two was actually pretty fun, three was a masterpiece. i'm a pretty avid disliker of remakes, yet…as the below post mentions, i'm excited and i don't know why. jackie earle haley i suppose for the most part.
