Disney Animation Studios’ Facebook page has release new concept art from their upcoming film Tangled.  Starring the voices of Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi, Tangled is based off the Rapunzel fairy tale, but crosses the long-haired girl (Moore) with charming bandit Flynn Rider (Levi).  The teaser looks cute, and this concept art is spectacular.

Hit the jump to check out the art.  Tangled opens on November 24th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Tangled:

Walt Disney Pictures presents “Tangled,” one of the most hilarious, hair-raising tales ever told. When the kingdom’s most wanted—and most charming—bandit Flynn Rider (voice of Zachary Levi) hides out in a mysterious tower, he’s taken hostage by Rapunzel (voice of Mandy Moore), a beautiful and feisty tower-bound teen with 70 feet of magical, golden hair. Flynn’s curious captor, who’s looking for her ticket out of the tower where she’s been locked away for years, strikes a deal with the handsome thief and the unlikely duo sets off on an action-packed escapade, complete with a super-cop horse, an over-protective chameleon and a gruff gang of pub thugs. In theaters this holiday season in Disney Digital 3D™, “Tangled” is a story of adventure, heart, humor and hair—lots of hair.

What's sad is that the whole movie was supposed to look like those concept paintings, now we just have your standard looking CG movie.

    imo, worse than standard…

Obviously, you do not understand the concept of “concept painting.” These doe not have to deal with the reality of production. And these paintings/drawings are not “concept paintings, per se, but close to the final look–painted well into production.

Most “concept painters” do not stick around to put images they create onto the screen. Those who do are more valued in the industry. But most do not, nor do they know the intricacies of production or film making.

Would have preferred this film be hand-drawn like “The Princess & the Frog.”

No, IllusionofLife is correct. The intent originally was for the film “Rapunzel” to look like that concept art, until it was retooled and retitled “Tangled.” It was supposed to be a more of a straightforward classic Disney movie and resemble a particular Renaissance painting – Jean-Honoré Fragonard's “The Swing” – in motion. They obviously ditched that idea for, yep, a standard looking CG movie with Shrek-style 'attitude.'

This film is going to surprise everyone.

So.. Where's the new art? This stuff is almost 2 years old..

Although, stupid name aside, I think the animation looks incredible and the film is going to be amazing.

Actually, no. It was many things since 2002 (when it started). And now it's apparent they've settled on a pretty straightforward version of the story with the usual Disney twists. And it is inspired by the Fragonard painting–the film looks like it. And Fragonard is not a Renaissance painter (off by a few hundred years).

    awesome work…

I agree that the new name of the movie is kinda dumb, but regardless, this ilm is looking to be better than I thought it would.
