MySpace has posted a brand-spankin’ new poster for Paramount’s Iron Man 2 (they made a sequel?!–</sarcasm>), and it’ll be familiar to anyone who’s seen the other Iron Man 2 posters that have been released in anticipation of the superhero sequel: almost all the main cast members are represented, both Iron Man and War Machine are given space up top, and the May 7th release date is prominently displayed.  Check out the full poster after the jump along with my thoughts on it.

Well, it seems like someone over at Paramount has just discovered Photoshop, doesn’t it?  This poster comes on the heels of last week’s poster, and while it is a marginal improvement from that one– which featured Mickey Rourke at the center rather than a diving Iron Man– you’d be forgiven if you mixed up the two.  The anticipation for Iron Man 2 is running high these days, and one could make the argument that anyone that’s against going to see Iron Man 2 isn’t going to be persuaded by a poster, but…

Would it be crazy for Paramount to spend just ten more minutes putting these together?  Anyone with basic Photoshop skills could have put these together with a few publicity stills.  I loved the original Iron Man and want the sequel to kick ass, but Paramount needs to step up their posters to the level of the amazing trailers.

Stay tuned to Collider.com as we’ll keep reporting all things Iron Man 2, which hopefully will include better posters.  If you’re feeling particularly moved by the poster above, feel free to post all thoughts, feelings, and Tony Stark-related poetry in the comments section below.

The person who composed this damn thing should have had his fingers broken…
You know what the major problem with this poster is and why it doesn't work? Almost all of the HEADS are the SAME SIZE!
Stark and Widow look great side by side, that works…but Cheadle, War Machine, and Paltrow heads are all the same size and all gathered on the same right side! Ha,ha,ha!!!
The fix?? Pull Downey and Johannson more to the right so you can bring the reds of Iron Man down to make Widow figure pop (she is almost totally lost here…). Keep War Machine same size, but add hot rim light to the right (to match Cheadle) and continue WM figure down past Paltrow…
I could go on and on but that's all Paramount gets from me for free.

A little while back I did a bunch of thumbnail movie posters for a short film I worked on and I was stunned at how bad I was at it. Especially when I first started. This poster reminds me of some of the junk I was churning out.

Iron Man has so much iconic imagery and such a well-known color space. Why not fill the poster with some of it. The placement of that super bright blue triangle hurts my brain.

Anyway, it's true that this movie doesn't need any poster to sell tickets. :)

This is a terrible poster, i mean lately their have been some amazing and classy cover on the Invincible Iron Man series of comics that trump these.

Robert Downey Jr. looks like a Latin Columbian Drug Lord; in all due respect to his fellow
excellent actors I would suggest the emphases be on the cartoon character IRON MAN
in full length with more light on his armor. Sam Rockwell and Mickey Rourke are
Not on there..I don't like this..it's all wrong, way too busy and needs IRON MAN ALONE.
    It lacks excitement and allure.

Whatever. A poster never contains the awesomeness. Still, way better than the last.
