Amazon Studios has released a new Late Night trailer. The upcoming comedy stars Emma Thompson as Katherine Newberry, an acclaimed late night talk show host whose show has fallen into bland complacency. To bring some new life to her homogeneous writing staff, she hires Molly (Mindy Kaling, who also wrote the film), a chemical plant worker who has a knack for comedy. Together, they fight to revitalize the show and save Katherine from being replaced by the network.

I caught the movie at Sundance earlier this year and was absolutely taken with it. This trailer plays by traditional rom-com beats, and it should! Late Night is basically a rom-com, except instead of the romance being about personal intimacy, it’s about the workplace and how Katherine and Molly compliment each other. I found Late Night to be an utter delight, and I can’t wait to see it again.
