I’m not sure what’s harder to believe: David O. Russell hasn’t gone ballistic on the set of “The Fighter”, that the movie is being made, or that there’s a photo of Christian Bale smiling. Plenty of new photos from “The Fighter”, co-starring Mark Wahlberg, have popped up online and they show, well, fighting but also some family moments between Dicky Eklund (Bale) and his half-brother “Irish” Micky Ward (Wahlberg). The Fighter, is a drama about boxer “Irish” Micky Ward’s unlikely road to the world light welterweight title. His Rocky-like rise was shepherded by half-brother Dicky, a boxer-turned-trainer who rebounded in life after nearly being KO’d by drugs and crime.

Jesus, if this features an attempt to reenact Ward’s first fight with Arturo Gatti then I’ve GOT to see it. Not that another David O. Russell film isn’t reason enough, but that fight was epic. When people say that the “Rocky” films don’t have realistic boxing scenes, I point to the 9th round of Ward Vs Gatti 1 as a counter-argument.
