Two new featurettes for Nimrod Antal's Predators have landed online.  First up is a featurette where Antal and producer Robert Rodriguez talk about how they came to the project, what story they wanted to tell, how they came to casting Adrien Brody as their lead badass among a cast of badass characters, and the film's reliance on practical effects more than CGI.  They cover a lot in the span of three minutes and nineteen seconds.

Also released today on the updated Predators website is a featurette centering on Topher Grace's character, Edwin.  Edwin is a doctor who has "seen and done horrible things," and who Rodriguez says, "may be the most deadly of them all."  I've been a big fan of Grace ever since That's 70s Show and I'm excited to see him in such a high-profile flick playing a very different character than the light romantic comedy guy he's best known for playing.

Hit the jump to check out both featurettes along with the official synopsis.  Predators hits theaters on July 9th.

Here's the official synopsis for Predators:

A bold new chapter in the Predator universe, Predators was shot on location under Rodriguez's creative auspices at the filmmaker's Austin-based Troublemaker Studios, and is directed by Nimród Antal.  The film stars Adrien Brody as Royce, a mercenary who reluctantly leads a group of elite warriors who come to realize they've been brought together on an alien planet... as prey.  With the exception of a disgraced physician, they are all cold-blooded killers - mercenaries, Yakuza, convicts, death squad members - human "predators" that are now being systemically hunted and eliminated by a new breed of alien Predators. In addition to Adrien Brody, the film stars Topher Grace, Alice Braga, and Laurence Fishburne.  Co-starring are Walton Goggins, Danny Trejo, Oleg Taktarov and Mahershalalhashbaz Ali.
