New ‘Rambo V: Last Blood’ Images Introduce Cowboy Stallone’s “Adopted Family”

     February 4, 2019

rambo-5-sliceWhat’s the deal with Rambo V: Last Blood? Hard to say. Sylvester Stallone is out here dressing like a Westworld host. Filming wrapped in December with the actor appearing to bid a last farewell to the Green Beret character he first played in 1982’s First Blood. At one point it was supposed to be a monster movie and I will probably never forgive Hollywood for vetoing that idea. Just a whole lot to process here, but some new photos shared by Stallone himself give a better look at his co-stars Yvette Monreal (The Fosters) and Adriana Barraza (The Strain), who Stallone refers to as John Rambo’s “adopted family.”

The film will reportedly see the character crossing the Mexican border to rescue a friend’s daughter who has been kidnapped by the cartel. Adrian Grunberg (Get The Gringo) will handle directing duties on a script co-written by Stallone and Matthew Cirulnick (Absentia). Stallone’s been trying to get this bad boy going for a decade after the Rambo slaughtered $113 million worldwide on a $50 million budget. Truthfully, these new images don’t reveal a whole lot other than the fact that there’s gonna’ be a ton of horseback riding in this movie and at some point John Rambo will hold a fork and knife while staring into the distance. But I kind of dig the weathered, sleepy-ish tone of the whole thing. It’s got a real Old Man Rambo vibe to it that suits the 72-year-old Stallone well.

Check out the images below. Rambo 5: Last Blood—which also stars Paz VegaÓscar Jaenada, and Sergio Peris-Menchetastill slated to debut in late 2019.
