Paramount has released the second trailer for Rocketman, the fantasy-biopic mash-up directed by Dexter Fletcher that stars Taron Egerton as five-time Grammy-winning icon Elton John. The film also stars Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), Richard Madden (Game of Thrones), Jamie Bell (Fantastic Four), and Gemma Jones (Bridget Jones' Baby).

What's a little disappointing about this trailer is that John is a larger-than-life performer and the previous trailer showed that they were going to follow that by moving more along the lines of a fantasy that channels the music and personality of John rather than playing by the standard biopic beats. But I suppose you can see the Bohemian Rhapsody effect here as this trailer mostly plays it straight with only the briefest hints that this might not be a run-of-the-mill biopic. Some viewers are going to be disappointed when this movie arrives; I'm just not sure whom.

Until then, check out the trailer below. Rocketman hits theaters on May 31.

Here is the official synopsis for Rocketman:

ROCKETMAN is an epic musical fantasy about the incredible human story of Elton John’s breakthrough years. The film follows the fantastical journey of transformation from shy piano prodigy Reginald Dwight into international superstar Elton John. This inspirational story – set to Elton John’s most beloved songs and performed by star Taron Egerton – tells the universally relatable story of how a small-town boy became one of the most iconic figures in pop culture. ROCKETMAN also stars Jamie Bell as Elton’s longtime lyricist and writing partner Bernie Taupin, Richard Madden as Elton’s first manager, John Reid, and Bryce Dallas Howard as Elton’s mother Sheila Farebrother.
