DreamWorks has released the first real trailer for Shrek Forever After and you can watch it after the jump. While the last two Shrek movies might have soured you to caring about the 4th and final installment, I saw the first 30 minutes of Shrek Forever After two months ago and actually really liked the footage. And this is coming from someone that hated the last two films.
The basic premise of the 4th film is Shrek is tired of his life and family and he makes a deal with Rumpelstiltskin to get a day to himself, away from everyone and everything. But what Shrek doesn’t know is Rumpelstiltskin is out for himself and his magic contracts are not as clear as he lets on. So while Shrek expected to go back home after a short one day vacation, he awakens in a universe where no one knows him and he’s no longer married to Fiona. Needless to say, the rest of the film is about returning everything to normal….
Shrek Forever After features the voices of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, Antonio Banderas, Paul McCartney, Julie Andrews, Eric Idle, and Justin Timberlake. Shrek gets released May 21 and in 3D.
Here’s the official synopsis:
After challenging an evil dragon, rescuing a beautiful princess and saving your in-laws’ kingdom, what’s an ogre to do? Well, if you’re Shrek, you suddenly wind up a domesticated family man. Instead of scaring villagers away like he used to, a reluctant Shrek now agrees to autograph pitch forks. What’s happened to this ogre’s roar? Longing for the days when he felt like a “real ogre,” Shrek is duped into signing a pact with the smooth-talking dealmaker, Rumpelstiltskin. Shrek suddenly finds himself in a twisted, alternate version of Far Far Away, where ogres are hunted, Rumpelstiltskin is king and Shrek and Fiona have never met. Now, it’s up to Shrek to undo all he’s done in the hopes of saving his friends, restoring his world and reclaiming his one True Love.
