A new trailer for Toy Story 3 has been released and as you might expect from the company that only makes amazing movies (Pixar), the trailer makes me wish TS3 was in theaters this weekend.  Loaded with funny scenes and action, the trailer is a perfectly cut piece of awesome.

And unlike the first clips that have been released from Toy Story 3, this one starts to show what the movie is really about and how some of the new toys are not so friendly.  I promise you want to watch this trailer.  Also, I’ve posted 10 new high resolution images that show the new characters in greater detail.

Toy Story 3 features the voices of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Don Rickles, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Estelle Harris, John Morris, Laurie Metcalf, R. Lee Ermey, Jodi Benson, Ned Beatty, Bonnie Hunt, Timothy Dalton, Jeff Garlin, Whoopi Goldberg and Michael Keaton.  TS3 arrives in theaters June 18.

The creators of the beloved “Toy Story” films re-open the toy box and bring moviegoers back to the delightful world of Woody, Buzz and our favorite gang of toy characters in TOY STORY 3. Woody and Buzz had accepted that their owner Andy would grow up someday, but what happens when that day arrives? In the third installment, Andy is preparing to depart for college, leaving his loyal toys troubled about their uncertain future. Lee Unkrich (co-director of “Toy Story 2″ and “Finding Nemo”) directs this highly anticipated film, and Michael Arndt, the Academy Award®-winning screenwriter of “Little Miss Sunshine,” brings his unique talents and comedic sensibilities to the proceedings. Toy Story 3 will be presented in Disney Digital 3DTM in select theaters.

You know, I'm going to put off watching this trailer unless I see it attached to a movie. I just don't really need to see any trailers. My family will be there opening night unless a barrage of negative reviews start coming in. :) It will be fun to watch with fresher eyes.

I don't know about other people's reactions to this trailer but for me this looks like the first bad movie from Pixar. The jokes are too referential to other movies (Woody falling by his sting too close to the ground, Mission Impossible) and the trailer is too full of double entendre jokes (the Ken and Barbie dolls parts) for this movie to look like it will work on the same level that all the other Pixar films have. The wonderful thing about all the Pixar films so far have been their willingness to shy away from pop culture references and all the innuendos and just tell straight forward stories that take place within their own self contained worlds. This movie looks like it's going be belong tonally more with the Shrek series than with the earlier Toy Story films and for that I can honestly say I'm not looking forward to this movie for it looks like a major disaster on Pixar's part, not that I'm hoping it will be, I do hope that I am wrong, but it just looks that way from this trailer alone.
