The excellently monikered Marlboro Road Gang Productions has released the first trailer for Nice Guy Johnny, the latest from writer/director/star Edward Burns (Purple Violets).  The film centers around the struggles of the titular Johnny to choose between jobs and females.  The cast is led by Matt Bush (Adventureland) and Kerry Bishé (Scrubs), with Burns, Anna Wood, and Max Baker supporting.  Check out the trailer after the jump.

As a general rule, if I can recognize the actress before her credit flashes across the screen, I believe the "Introducing" credit is invalid.  I may be a bigger Scrubs fan than most, but I was charmed enough by her central role in season nine (aka the "zombie season") that I was taken aback when the marketing department assumed this was my introduction to Bishé.  Season nine of Scrubs averaged about four million viewers --- while a pittance for broadcast, surely that's more than the number who will ever see Nice Guy Johnny given its limited non-studio release.  Am I in the wrong here?

(The "Introducing" credit may also apply to Bush, who a significant portion of you may recognize from Adventureland or Halloween 2.  Perhaps a more relatable example here.)

I focus on this because, though I am a twentysomething, I hate movies that revolve around the angst of twentysomethings.  By the looks of the trailer, this movie is clearly not for me, with or without the adorable Bishé.

Here's the official synopsis:

Sure, she can be a little overbearing sometimes, but baby-faced Johnny Rizzo loves his fiancee Claire, and he made her a promise: by the time he's 25-years-old, he'll trade his current dream job as a local sports talk radio host (even if it is the 2 a.m. slot) for something that'll pay bigger bucks. And Johnny's nothing, if not a man of his word.

Now he's flying to New York to interview for some snoozeville job that Claire's well-to-do father set up. Enter Uncle Terry, who lives in New York, a rascally womanizer bent on turning a day in the Hamptons into a final fling for his nephew. Nice guy Johnny's not interested, of course, but then he meets the lovely Brooke...
