From Twitchfilm comes word that Frost and O’Dowd will star in Cuban Fury, featuring Frost as a former teen salsa prodigy who attempts a comeback after a rival (O’Dowd) ruins his career. Jon Brown penned the script, but the picture does not yet have a director. The project is backed by the UK’s Big Talk Productions (Hot Fuzz, Attack the Block).
Variety reports that Nyqvist has joined the adaptation of The Seagull, a dramatization of artistic and romantic conflicts that arise during a Memorial Day retreat for a New England family. Nyqvist will star as the friendly estate caretaker, Johan. Writer/director Christian Carmago’s directorial debut also stars Katie Holmes, William Hurt, Allison Janney, Cherry Jones, Russell Means, Jean Reno, Mark Rylance and Juliet Rylance. The indie is scheduled to start production next month in upstate New York with some scenes in Connecticut in late June.
