No doubt Nicole Kidman’s agent has been busy lately, as the actress has just signed on to two projects opposite a pair of high profile leading men: Nicolas Cage and Clive Owen. Joel Schumacher (Twelve) will direct Kidman and Cage in the action-adventure film Trespass. According to Variety, the script from Karl Gajdusek and Eli Richbourg follows “a husband and wife taken hostage by four brutal perpetrators seeking easy cash. Complications ensue amid the unexpected discovery of betrayal and deception.” Nu Image/Milleninum Films is targeting an August start date in Louisiana, likely ending in time for Cage to star in either Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance or National Treasure 3.
Hit the jump for the details on Kidman’s other project, the HBO movie Hemingway & Gellhorn.

Deadline reports that Sopranos star James Gandolfini has been trying to realize the story of Ernest Hemingway and lover Martha Gellhorn for six years now. The competitive literary minds challenged each other throughout a “tumultuous romance and subsequent five-year marriage”— Gellhorn reportedly inspired one of Hemingway’s most acclaimed novels, For Whom the Bell Tolls.
Gandolfini was attached to star in 2004, when it was destined for theaters. The project has been based at HBO since 2006 and took four more years to ripen. Now Gandolfini will produce, Kidman and Owen will star as the famous couple, and Philip Kaufman is set to direct from a script by Barbara Turner and Jerry Stahl. Filming will commence next year in Northern California.
Kidman recently finished shooting the Adam Sandler/Jennifer Aniston comedy Just Go with It, and will soon film The Rabbit Hole with Aaron Eckhart, Sandra Oh, and Dianne Wiest.
Honestly Gandolfini sounded like a better choice to play Hemingway than…Clive Owen
schumacher is a hack and should be prevented from destroying any more film
I agree that Schumacher can be a hack with many of his films(i.e. Batman & Robin), but he's a pretty respectable director. This new films sounds like it'll be typical Hollywood trash, but remember Schumacher did direct A Time to Kill and, also, Phone Booth. Both great films and considering he shot Phone Booth on one location in ten days, he does have an independent thinking to him sometimes. Plus, i'm more upset about the casting of Clive Owen as Hemingway…does anyone else think this makes no sense!?

He directed the great film A Time to Kill and directed the very independent and very intrigueing and Hitchcockian film Phone Booth. Both great. And considering he shot Phone Booth in ten days on one location, he does have an independence to his thinking sometimes. This new film seems like typical Hollywood trash, but I don't think he's as bad as you think. Plus, I'm more upset with the casting of Clive Owen as Hemingway…does anyone else think this makes no sense!?
Also, i know I'm probably beating a dead horse here but: Schumacher directed another great film called Falling Down with Michael Douglas and Robert Duvall. He also directed the respectably decent thriller The Client and he directed The Phantom of the Opera(2004), which not many people like, but I believe is a bit of an underrated film.
it's wonderful. You can go and see it.
