Dan Gilroy’s Nightcrawler isn’t even a comedy, but this clever new red trailer had me laughing more than any other promo I’ve seen in a while. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Lou Bloom, a guy desperate to score a job. While on the hunt, Lou stumbles across a “nightcrawler,” someone who captures footage of fires, murders and all sorts of chaos to sell to new stations and Lou comes to the conclusion that the gig is perfect for him.

Nightcrawler is due in theaters on October 31st and in honor of the release, Open Road Films just unveiled a brand new trailer for the movie. As this is likely one of the last promos we'll get, naturally, this Nightcrawler red band trailer is loaded with critic quotes. They’re all glowing, but not in the way one might expect. This is a see it to believe it kind of piece so hit the jump to check it out and click here to give Matt’s Nightcrawler review a read.

Here’s the official synopsis for Nightcrawler:

NIGHTCRAWLER is a pulse-pounding thriller set in the nocturnal underbelly of contemporary Los Angeles. Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Lou Bloom, a driven young man desperate for work who discovers the high-speed world of L.A. crime journalism. Finding a group of freelance camera crews who film crashes, fires, murder and other mayhem, Lou muscles into the cut-throat, dangerous realm of nightcrawling — where each police siren wail equals a possible windfall and victims are converted into dollars and cents. Aided by Rene Russo as Nina, a veteran of the blood-sport that is local TV news, Lou blurs the line between observer and participant to become the star of his own story.
